We always stop in here when we travel to Maine. I don't usually make a reservation as we prefer to show up at the bar when they open and either grab a cocktail table or sit at the bar. Bar has the same menu as...More

Shame on you. Your reservation policy stinks. Walked in at 5:30pm for a party of two. No tables had been seated. Restaurant was empty. Bar was partially filled. We were informed no walk-ins available until 7pm. It's not unusual for me to spend $300 on...More

My wife brought me here for a birthday celebration. It was our first time and we were both a little disappointed. We ordered the mussels and we thought they were flavorless. Herb pasta dish was okay. I ordered the steak and I couldn't believe the...More

Loved the building, the atmosphere, the wait staff. Ordered the salad with chestnuts, mushrooms and turnips. It was enjoyable and well presented. Then followed that with the roasted halibut with citrus as my entre. While it was perfectly roasted, it was so overpowered with salt...More

My friends and I traveled to Portland for the first time. After some research I found this restaurant. I am so happy we went. Everyone loved it. It was the best meal I have ever had

My "average" rating may be a little unfair. It's a wonderful space, and we had a good time; but it may not be as original, as an experience (large warehouse-type space; open kitchen with wood-burning scents and sights) or a menu (farm-to-table; seafood-forward) as it...More

I think there are some places you just have to go. This is one of them. It was much larger inside than we thought it would be and it was very busy. But it turned out that the food was very good and the service...More

This trip to Fore Street was for Mother's Day after a trip to Winslow Homer's studio and the Portland Museum of Art. We ate here in December and curious to see if our first impressions were on target. They were. This is a unique dining...More

Hi All: RE:"....bakery downstairs...", from T.M.'s review, does that mean one must maneuver stairs to have supper; if so, how many (or is there an elevator)? Also, curious about distance from parking to front door (+/- Handicap. pkg. spaces)? Finally....are there cushioned seats available? ~Thank you one & all~

The dress code was "casual" but we saw everything from "all dressed up" (formal) to relaxed-casual but neat. Hope that helps. Enjoy!

I have no idea if they do or not, but the wait staff is very knowledgeable and if they don't know they will inquire for you.
