Hmmmm......where can sit, listen to great music, engaging conversation all for under $5? Well, it's difficult to walk out without replenishing your stash of Sarah's tasty teas but I will tell you--these are the best brews in the United States (perhaps the world). Do yourself a favor, when in Portland, stop in and see Sarah--exquisite shop and reminds one of... More

Love Homegrown for all my tea and herb needs. Sarah is so helpful and I always find something new to try. The shop itself is so unique and the perfect respite stop any time of year. Love to get away during the busy holidays or height of summer season and take a few minutes to be in the moment with... More

How does one begin to say....exquisite...fits the neighborhood....homey...welcoming....like having tea with grandma only she is less than half her age! Sarah is the consummate host...a true expert in her craft. Each tea constructed carefully with the wisdom of a true "brewmaster". A tea for whatever ails you or just stop by and enjoy the splendor of the shop. Usually live... More

My daughter and I stumbled on this little place, just looking for a place to sit down and cool off while visiting Portland en route to Nova Scotia. I really wish we had a whole afternoon to just hang out there. What a great atmosphere and the owner was simply as charming and friendly as can be. She's one of... More

This is the coolest little tea room in Portland...some comfy seating on sofas and upholstered chairs as well as several tables and chairs. Funky and eclectic design and decor...just perfect for your hand mixed tea leaves and tasty home baked treats. They have all types and flavors of tea...and usually feature a different special blend...changes frequently. I usually order the... More

My GOD what a divine place - a true slice of heaven (sorry for what sounds like a religious experience; although maybe I'm not too far off) - and the lovely Sarah who serves up the absolutely most delicious hand-brewed to-order teas in the most delicious, delightful, and, yes, divine spots! For an experience - and for exquisite teas -... More

Homegrown Tea offers a variety of specialty teas, remedies for the novice tea drinker to the expert. Sarah, the owner, is incredibly knowledgeable and just a nice, down to earth woman. This is a must while in Portland, totally unique experience

And unequivocally the BEST tea shop not only in Portland (and I've tried the all; and it's not even close) but...really...anywhere. Trust me - even if you're not much of a tea drinker - this is the real deal and a VERY SPECIAL PLACE OWNED AND OPERATED BY A VERY SPECIAL PERSON.

Love the personal service here. Sarah is knowledgeable and friendly. The teas take a little more time to make, so make sure you come to relax and take the atmosphere in. Little treats are also sold as well as local honey.

And you WILL thank me. I'm not even that much a "tea guy" but I've never had a bad cup of tea here (that's not possible) and the exotic blend I had today was simply out of this world delicious. I cannot tell you - although I'm trying to - how special the entire experience is here, and that includes... More

Description
Your #1 "Restaurant" in Portland [Standard Bakery] - and I LOVE the place and have written about it - is, not only a bakery but a coffee shop. There is NO reason why Homegrown Herb & Tea isn't also included on your "restaurant" listings as it's an unbelievably wonderful place for tea (and homemade baked goods and other treats) all hand-made by the SUPER attentive owner who is an herbalist of the very finest order. More people need to know about this place....and I can't wait to write my review!!!
