Traveling this week looking to eat Lobster and this was was delicious. They served it warm with butter for us upon request. The bowl of meat was super. Don't forget to enjoy their homemade pie for dessert. I had blueberry with vanilla ice cream! You should too!

Amidst the growing big box stores we manage to find a mom and pop restaurant. This section of town is very commercialized. We felt like we took a step back in time. Walking in we were treated by a young lady standing behind a counter showing off the biggest pieces of pie that we have ever seen! Try to save... More

Was looking for a place to eat that wasn't a big chain or fast food. Decided to give Helens a try for supper this weekend on our way to Bar Harbor. Was very satisfied. Neat little restaurant with some vintage decor. Very friendly staff and attentive. Meal was amazing. Both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed what we ordered. Portions... More

I have dined here off and on for the past 10 or more years, during the past year or more the place seems to be going down hill. Help is probably one of their problems. The quality of the food has decreased. I had a small steak, it was so tough I could not eat it. My complaint went no... More

We visited Helen's on a recommendation of a local resident. We also had a 10% off coupon from our timeshare resort. What my daughters and I found was a wonderful American diner which focused on the comfort food that Maine does so well. My family vacationed in Maine and a perennial favorite was the fried clam bellies which I tried... More

Food was good, not as good as Helens up country, the steak was not as tender as could be but the rest of the meal was very good.

Although this restaurant was at one time part of the Machias Helen's, it was sold over 10 years ago. Read the About Us section on the Machias Helen's webpage. My husband had spaghetti with meatballs which had way too much filler. The loaf of bread is definitely not a homemade bread....could be Wonderbread. I had ribs, which were baked and... More

We ate early evening, but there several groups of locals present. The staff were friendly and the food good. The ribs looked a dry and a little unappetising, but turned out to be moist and tasty - the sauce added to the taste and did not overwhelm the meat. Unfortunately, we were too full to have a desert, which had... More
