The chef loves to meet the clientele always greets people with a warm smile & hand shake. Sometimes he is known to bring you an unexpected garlic bread or tomatoe one they are rather moorish. Don't be on a diet in the establishment it's a no no the food is freshly cooked to order presented well and very moorish. The... More

I visited this place with my boyfriend on our way back from a country walk. I ordered the leek and potato soup followed by pork sunday lunch. The soup was served in a large bowl with 2 slices of warm bread, slightly on the thin side but I was satisfied with it, particularly as I needed warming up as the... More

very very slow service, some of our parties drinks didn't arrive, food was a long time coming, and when it did arrive wasn't very good. It's a shame because it's a very varied menu with lots of fish on the special menu, but unfortunately after our experience we won't be returning.

Been here a few times and always enjoyed it. Went at Christmas, there was 8 of us in total, food really nice but the bill came and they had doubled up all the drinks. Questioned this at the bar on paying and the lady just said oh yes.,,,,no apologies at all so when they're making over £200 anyway and then... More

All the food was hot, well presented and good value for money, wife and daughter had Pâté my son had a pizza from the kids menu which is free with a paying adult, I had Meatballs in a chilli and tomato sauce, all the starters were very good. I was driving so no beer was tested. Mains we had 3... More

First visit to this converted pub. Very pleasantly surprised. Lovely decor choices of real ales and a great choice on the menu. The Sunday carvery was excellent value. If you are heading down the Blackrod bye-pass don't miss out on this gem.

We called at the Rivington on our way back to the motorway after competing in the Festival of cycling at Horwich. It was 8:30 p.m. and it was Last Chance Saloon for something to eat before a 1 and a half hour journey home back to Derbyshire. Very pleasant staff and nice surroundings excellent food. I had the chicken and... More

Visited with a large group of people (about 35 in total). The staff did a great job to serve us all at the same time and delivered excellent food. The only critisim I have is the way a waiter spoke to me. He asked me if I had ordered mushrooms to which i replied no. He walked away and came... More

We visited on a Mid Saturday afternoon so it was quiet. Good varied main menu and specials board. I had the Black Pudding with a creamy mustard sauce, then the Steak and ale pie. My partner had the King Prawns in Garlic and the Homemade Angus Beef Bacon Cheeseburger. All the food was well presented, tasty and great value. The... More
