My family has been here more than once now and have loved it every time. The picadillo and arepas (get the la llanera) are fantastic and I suggest starting out with the el portion sampler. ALL AUTHENTIC FOOD. Soooo good. This is my favorite restaurant! The service is amazing and our waitress is always so nice every visit. She even... More

We were taken to this restaurant by a family member and they highly recommended this restaurant. What was I thinking? I asked the waitress what should I order between the Camarones de Ajillo (Shrimp in garlic sauce) or the Arroz con Pescado Mixto (Rice with mixed seafood). The waitress stated convincingly the Arroz con Pescado Mixto. This is the second... More

We drove over an hour to visit El Porton, and we weren't disappointed! We had a lunch special that included: one arepa with any filling, one empanada (beef or chicken), rice, beans, and plantains. We had the De Pabellon arepa, which included shredded beef, black beans, sweet plantains, and aged cheese. It was wonderful, especially with the green sauce that... More

I have a great love for Tres Leches cake. Where I live not too many places make it so I always try to find it when we travel. We've also been to Puerto Rico, The Bahamas, Jamaica, and we like Cuban food, so we saw lots of our favorites served here. Since we were getting takeout we ordered a bunch... More

The food here is delicious, but the prices are over the top. It is hard to find this type of food elsewhere in the city(that is quality,) which is why they can probably get away with charging so much. I ordered entrees for 2 people, plus ordered an extra arepa for each of us- the bill was over $50.

Popped in here for a casual lunch . very good experience . Lots of choices on their menu of central and South American food. El Porton features Central and South American dishes, including Venezuelan-style Arepas, which we love. They are well prepared, consistent and tasty. The service is casual but attentive; prices are reasonable. We find ourselves heading there for dinner at least monthly.

Nicely prepared, homemade Venezuelan food. However, this restaurant has THE BEST flan that I have ever had in my life -- and I've had flan many, many times, and in many places and countries, and this is hands-down the best homemade flan there is. They make it in small quantities, so if you're going to go there, call in advance... More
