Great Pizza / A Few Details Though ...

There is no denying that the pizza in Limestone is off the charts. We took some out-of-town visitors to eat there, and everyone loved his or her pizza. The salad was crisp and fresh, and the pizzas were creative and unique. The waitress was kind and pleasant. So there really is no way not to give this place a 5 / 5 rating ... I look forward to each time that we go there! The negatives? Such a busy restaurant could think about taking reservations, which would allow one to plan one's visit a bit better. Also, when I called to check to see if I could make a reservation, the person who answered the phone was curt and less than pleasant ...

Outstanding food

Menu is limited during pandemic but pizza remains outstanding - and the salads are very good. For the quality, the price is fine. Creative pizza options. Worth a special trip. Staff very consciousness re COVID protocols, food is brought out to cars, employees wear masks and gloves.

Quality food and service

Sat at the bar and ordered a pizza. Service was quick, and the pizza came out in a timely manner. It was a nice pizza, clearly well made and baked with quality ingredients. Price was a bit on the high side, (I travel the midwest and see 100's of restaurants a year), a glass of wine was $14 and the pizza was $18. This is pricing I would expect in a major city, but if they can get it in downtown Lawrence, more power to them. Would definitely go back when in the area.

Pricey, burnt, barely any toppings on pizza

Way over-priced pizza. 3 of us ordered different, individual sized pizzas. All of us receivedthe burnt, charred crust. The pizzas had so little sauce and toppings that it was like eating a burnt kids tostada. There are way better pizza options in Lawrence, .ike Minskys or Rudy's. This was not what I expected and was nowhere near the quality brick oven pizzas I have had elsewhere. I want to support local, but when pizza and one alcoholic bev costs over $120 for burnt food, then I have to draw the line. The server also never came back by to check on food or refill drinks...not that I'd want to stay longer.

Wanted to try

We have wanted to try this place for a while. It is a bit on the pricey side, the food and service was great. We spent $36 tip included for lunch We split the meatball appetizer, sausage pizza and coke. The meatballs were small, but reallllly good. The bread fantastic and sauce great. The sausage pizza was really good. We will be back.

What is they hype?

Everyone says this place is great but I round the pizza soggy and uninteresting. I have been there a few times and each time I go it lacks flavor but Kansans do like bland food. I will not go back there is much better pizza in town.

I sat at the bar and my server was very attentive. After a discussion about the many pizzas, she mentioned the NOLA, similar in many ways to a muffuletta. It was amazing! The food was great. I would highly recommend Limestone Pizza.

Stuffy but tasty pizza place

$22 for a Hawaiian personal size pizza is too much. Flavor was fine but nothing fabulous. Inside is cool but won’t return.

Excellent Pizza, Excellent service

Went here on a weeknight (evening) with family. There were four of us. We ordered three different pizzas with appetizers. They have a lot of options for toppings and a lot of things that you don't typically find at most pizza places. The place was fairly busy when we went, but that didn't affect the service. The service was top-notch and the pizzas were great. Very high quality, hand-made crust, cooked perfectly. Great place for families, dates or even by yourself. Seating is a little limited so you may want reservations if you have a larger group.

Repeat customer that won't be going back

If you are looking for a place that won't rush you out the door and clear your table before you are done, I would go elsewhere. Even if you have a reservation and are ordering plenty, you will be rushed out of your table after 90 minutes regardless of how slow your service is that night. It was a rare child-free night for my friends and I, so we were looking forward to a nice, uninterrupted meal and were in no hurry to get home. 90 minutes is definitely more than enough time to eat, but service was slow from the start (yet this counts against your time at the table). Our table was constantly hovered over by people crowding the entryway, so that hindered our server even getting to our table at times, thus impacting service and the amount of time we needed the table. As we were looking for our cards to pay, staff cleared our entire table, taking my not yet empty wine glass with them. I was already hesitant to go back to Limestone because when I returned the first time after Covid shutdown, prices were already significantly higher and no longer seemed worth it. However, with inflation, you definitely don't get your money's worth anymore. The cocktail was good, the fries were okay, but the pizza I ordered was bland and disappointing. Between the cost, their not so subtle efforts to boot you from the table and their service, I will never go back.

Great pizza

Great pizza and variety. We were all pleased with our pizzas. Good app selection too. Staff was nice to let is hang a few minutes after close until rain subsided.

Not just a pizza place

The pizza is good but other great comfort food and sandwiches. The place is comfortable and the staff gracious. In a short time, Limestone has become a Lawrence institution.

We don't live in Lawrence, but we always try to find a reason to visit Limestone! So yummy, fab drinks and pizza! Usually everything we have is really wonderful. Great service and atmosphere! Oh and if you haven't tried the drink Halfway to Scarborough-your missing out!
