Food was excellent. Wine was good. Service was acceptable, but be prepare to wait for your food (waited 50 minutes for our paella, but it was worth the wait).

I have been to Devotay a few times, initially drawn to see how their Spanish dishes match up to those I had while living in Madrid. The atmosphere is great and I love Linn Street as a location for a nice meal. The prices simply are too high for the quality of the food. It seems a bit overhyped and... More

We stopped for appetizers and a drink, a nice way to start the weekend after a long week. The wine list is small but they had just what i was looking for and served it in very nice stemware. The bartender was very knowledgeable and crafted my husband the drink he wanted and we enjoyed a nice cheeseboard to round... More

The restaurant is very charming. I was disappointed in the food. The paella was very greasy. The side salads were very fresh but with no distinct flavor or nuance. The pate de foi was literally the dimension of a 50-cent piece. I don't know if it was good or not. The octopus was tasty and the potatoes were good but... More

Tried this place as my husband and I enjoy tapas. Food selection was limited, a little pricey. Some were better tasting than others. Good location (near university) and nice ambience.

My wife and I go to Devotay at least once per month. We love the variety of Spanish Tapas as well as the Spanish wines. It is very romantic and cozy. The food is excellent, the service grand and the atmosphere charming. We like Raleigh as our server with his dry sense of humor.

One of the birthday presents my wife provided for me for the big 50 was a gift certificate to Devotay (located about one block away from St. Mary's in Iowa City). Devotay specializes in small plate dining with a Spanish flare (or so goes the review in the local restaurant guides). Decor wise, it's comfortable and cozy, Spanish paintings on... More

Lunch. House salad perfect: not a hint of wilt. Albóndigas: very nice interlaced onion. Patatas bravas: on the small side, but the sauce was tasty. Chocolate cake (called "tort") was rich. Service rather off-hand, but that's ok because it was efficient nevertheless and she mercifully didn't keep interrupting our conversation to ask 'if everything's looking good to you guys'- a... We were introduced to Devotay when our daughter was an undergrad at Iowa 8 years ago. We went back for a wedding earlier this month and were so delighted to find the restaurant still fabulous. This is a funky, interesting restaurant with lots of delightful small plates. If you are lucky enough to find the peach, beet, tomato salad with... More
