I don't often, if ever give out 5 star reviews, but this is the 2nd one I've typed today! I've tried lots of Mexican food in the area and have been wanting to try La Regia. When looking for their menu online I saw they also had online ordering which was perfect. I was at work, but near La Regia... More

They have great food here! We were doubtful when we received our nachos because they look like somethin you can find at any concession stand. But their chips are great, and the cheese has a good flavor, so we were pleasantly surprised. We also tried the guacamole, and it is fantastic... the best that I've had since Texas. To complete... This is by far my favorite Mexican in Iowa City. Judging by the lines which are always there, it's the same for many of us. You'll stand in line at the counter to order your food. The menu is on the wall above the counter. I typically get the tacos and they are filled with anything from azada, carnitas, chorizo,... More

A much better alternative to Taco Bell. Fast service and lots of different and authentic tacos. Try the sauces as well. Some pack a punch!

This is not a place to have margaritas and tacos. They do not serve alcohol but one of the best tacos I have ever tried. Very simple, very authentic, and tasty. Great price and value for your foodie soul.

So many cuts of meat to choose from, including tongue and tripe. You can get just a couple of the tacos for a snack or get the California burrito, which has fries in it, if you want to be stuffed.

A lovely lunch outside on a sunny spring day. There are 3 tables outside, where it's a bit more quiet. Had C7, pork enchiladas with rice and beans. I am not a fan of the beans, but liked the rest indeed. Plus we have the fish tacos which are my favorite. The best is the guacamole with chips, best in... More

I have been to this restaurant many times, and have always been very happy with the food. While I have ordered some of the dinners (and they were good), the tacos never disappoint. In particular, I would recommend the chorizo and the carnitas. The guacamole is also delicious, but too big of a serving if you're dining alone.

My wife and I have been trying Mexican restaurants in and around Iowa City. Many have been okay. But, we hadn't found the go-to place. That is, until we found La Regia. The food is authentic and flavor-filled. You can tell it is being prepared by people who love what they do! While it may not be the fanciest place... More

My friend and I came here for dinner recently. It was after 6:30pm on a week night, but it was still pretty busy inside. Based on other reviews, I'm guessing our experience was just a fluke, but the dining area was fairly dirty and the meat in the tacos was a bit dry. Service was a bit slow, too. The... More
