It took the bartender 20-30 min to refill my water. I'm sitting at the bar and he's right there in front of me. He finally refilled my water. Instead of putting my food order into the computer, he tells one of the waiters my order and then to tell the kitchen staff what I wanted. I waited for 15-20 min.... More

An impressively large selection of unique burgers and great local Iowa beer on tap. Noisy like a bar, of course, because that's what it is. If you want the best service, sit at the bar. I ordered the Essex burger, which has great brie cheese on it, which you can really taste. The fries are very plain in a good... More

We loved this place! The burgers were huge. The beef is from a local farm (per the menu) and the fries and buns appeared to be made in-house. They had several unique combinations for their burgers. My husband had one with chorizo and avocado and mine had mozzarella, bacon, and basil mayonnaise. They were delicious!

I came to Shorts with some friends after visiting a best friend in Iowa City. This place has some of the best burgers I have ever tasted. Locally purchased meat with high quality, these burgers are cooked to order and come in various flavor makes. I got the Dundee special which included egg (one of my favorite types of burgers).... Working my way through the burgers named after small towns in Kansas. Good local beer on tap to accompany unique burgers. Serve the bourbon by the same name.

I was in Iowa City with my daughter for orientation at UI and we asked two people for a recommendation for somewhere to eat. We were told that these were the best burgers in Iowa City, so we went! First, it's a cute cute place with a very "college town" vibe. We were lucky to get seated right away because... More

Shorts was recommended by a hotel staffer as a good place open late for dinner. This was just what we wanted. The menu is limited to burgers, grilled chicken, vegetarian burgers, home made fries and a few other options. Meat is from a farm 26.5 miles away, according to the menu, so it's very local. The many burger options make... More

A fantastic gustatory experience with fine local libations. Outstanding waitstaff. The burgers are the main draw and well worth it.

I often take my staff here for lunch. There are over a dozen types of thick and juicy burgers to choose from. Generous helping of fries on the side. You won't need dinner when you eat lunch here.

Thank Judy B
