This place is TINY! It is busy and crowded. The side dishes were good. The ribs were tender but a little fatty for my taste.. I've been told the brisket is excellent, but I haven't personally tried it. The cornbread was great.

I had a fantastic lunch here. I selected the 2 meats (ribs and pork) and 2 sides (jalapeno grits and cheesy potato) combination which was fantastic. The corn bread is also out of this world. This place is not too far from Drake University and is also not too far from the highway so getting to it is easy. We... More

The ribs were excellent, tender and smokey. Some of the most tender burnt ends that I have ever tasted. The bbq sauce was excellent, not too tangy or spicey. The sides really complimented the meal

Did takeout for my first try. I was very pleased with Brisket and Pulled Pork sandwhiches. The full slab of rib was also great. Would do it again, and again.

Ambience: a converted front room in a detached home in a residential area close to downtown. We tried the ribs and the brisket on our latest BBQ adventure. The ribs are fine dry, but do try the spicy sauce, which kicks them up another notch. The brisket was lean, as one often finds it in Iowa, and correspondingly dry. The... More

Consistent BBQ that delivers the flavor! Kudos for the free cornbread. Ribs were awesome and the sides are phenomenal.

Went with buddy to check it all out....had a big platter with most everything. NICE!! Brisket was perfect, 1/2 chicken was delicious and falling off of the bone, and ribs were good too (also falling off of the bone). Side dishes of baked beans, green beans, and mac-n-cheese were nice, but not great. Corn bread was pretty good and love... More

I love Woody's where I crave it. The "Meal Deal" is the best deal. Great salads, the Pasta salad and Potato Salad are my favorite! Try the apple or cherry crisp. Don't forget to grab the free corn bread near the front door! If you are going to be there a a lot get the punch card for an evental... More

I cook a mean brisket, so I am find very few restaurants that I think make a brisket better than I do. Woody's does make a better brisket than I do, and they do it on a consistent basis. The sides are varied and really good. An added bonus is the cornbread and honey you serve yourself. Des Moines is... More
