What could have been a lovely spot for coffee was ruined by grumpy staff, dogs near the door and parking nightmares. Not a friendly welcome, overwhelmed by music and noise and average coffee. Will not be returning to this place which is a pity given...its location and recommendations by friends.More

So happy to see the standard is just the same since our last visit here while on holiday. Can recommend the Eastern Omelette (at least I think that's what it was called). Absolutely delicious. Coffee's always good and the service is too.

Went for lunch on a rainy day. Cafe being full shows how popular it is - for good reason. Best fish and chips I’ve had in years, crispy perfect fish, house made tartare and wonderful salad to go with it. Hubby had their version of...eggs bene - also delicious. I’ve just had the best meal at la mar. All my favourite things in one dish! Sweet potato, grilled halloumi, mushrooms, broccoli with a beautiful basil sauce. Highly recommend this dish and the service was impeccable. Great value for money

I had a wonderful meal at this cafe. Problem was a waitress was patting a dog and then came inside to serve food. She may have washed. I could not see. I cannot return. Ann

I hadn't been to La Mar for many years and recently went for brunch with family. Very cosy (great fire on a cold day) and lovely ambience as well as friendly staff. Not being a big eater I opted for the 'breakfast muffin' which came...with a side salad and was plenty for me - and delicious. My son and his partner both had eggs (scrambled and an omelette) with various sides and both meals were huge (and, by all accounts, very nice). Between us we also had a caramel latte, hot chocolate and a lemongrass and ginger tea - all lovely. Interesting gifts and also fresh produce for purchase makes it a well-rounded experience. Definitely worth a visit and I won't leave it so long to go back.More

First time visiting La Mar & it will be the last time. My friend and I went there for lunch and we were barely greeted by the waiter who didn’t even look at us or take his eyes of off the iPad screen. I then...ordered a granola bowl & my friend ordered eggs and bacon for takeaway. The granola bowl was in a large plastic coffee cup and worth no more than $8 and I paid $18. My friends was a small box with dry bread & an excessive amount of spinach covering the entire meal. Not convenient for eating takeaway. The granola bowl was ordered with berries instead of poach pear due to dietary requirements and my friend and I overhead the kitchen complain about the “complexity” of switching out the pear. Finally we both witnessed an elderly lady buying vegetables from the same waiter we were served by, she told the man she was going to grab her own bag from the car and wouldn’t be long and the man just rolled his eyes and had an attitude over it. If you’re looking for friendly staff & service, and meal portions worth your money, La Mar is not the place.More

Always the place for me to have Brekky when in the Devonport area for work. I had the corn fritter stack with salmon and poached egg. Coffee also very good also.

Awesome little cafe. Food is amazing. Good variety. Smoothies were awesome Staff are friendly & always smiling Great place to stop.
