The decor is a "3", the food is a "7", that averages to "5". The most delicious tamales you will ever have.

We've stopped by The Tamale Place several times in recent months, and still hold the same opinion held several years ago ... a terrific place for tacos, with fresh tortillas, and excellent fillings, esp. with cilantro and the lime wedge and salsa (house-made, it's obvious). The tamales still seem to be a good hit to a slight miss -- still... More

Overall very good food, especially for the price! I nearly gave it a 5 star rating, but for a restaurant specializing in Tamales to get that, it would have to had been the best I ever had. While it was very good, it wasn't quite the best, thus the 4 stars. However considering the price and quality of food, I... More

They have a place on the west side and one down at the market, and they serve the same food at both. You can get tamales with chicken, pork, or dessert flavors, and you can get different sauces, such as red, green, and spicy versions of each. The salsa is hot, and the chips are good. The prices are excellent.... More

I love this place SO much. The husband and I come here as often as possible. My kids.. not so much! They do, however, love the nachos. Today we had a recession tamale, a green chicken, and a combo with green pork tamale and hot salsa and black beans. The kids had steak nachos. *Which they tore up!! In the... More

I had heard so many positive comments about the Tamale Place, I drove all the way from Bloomington to give it a try. Really delicious tamales and rice, but the salsa is definitely heavy with cilantro. A little on the pricey side, but the tamales are soooo delicious. Would recommend to anyone in search of authentic Mexican cuisine!

Stumbled on this place and what a treat. The best tamales ever! The spicy chicken was spicy and tasty and wrapped in a banana leaf. The chipolte beef was tasty and my daughter inhaled her pork in green sauce. The quanities of each type of tamale are limited, so be open. I had to get out of my comfort zone... More

Love the nachos and the tortas. But nothing makes my freezer and me happier than a large bag of tamals to eat after work or on an evening when we don't want to cook.

Not in a nice area, but just like their motto says - the good stuff is on the inside! Great tamales. Staff is surprisingly friendly.

Thank Marc M
