Started with a decent margarita and a fantastic deviled egg appetizer. My wife's gnocchi was a wonderful collection of flavors. But the star was my lobster waffle. Nice variety of entrees running from around $10 to over $30. Great place to dine.

Congratulations! Steve Oakley. Just attended a "Party" at Oakley's Bistro showing Steve beating Bobbi Flav On the Food Netwook. Great party and showed what a great chef Steve is. Then had a great dinner with friend three nights later at the restaurant. Love Toad In A Hole Salad and his cream spinach with leeks is my favorite side dish.

My wife and I love to watch the show "Beat Bobby Flay." When we found out that someone from Indianapolis was going to compete on the show, we watched. And then, HE WON! Anybody who can beat Bobby Flay grabs my attention. That attention is very well placed in Chef Steve at OAKLEY'S Bistro. From start to finish it was... More

Oakley's will simply amaze. It is located in a nice upscale strip mall but you still don't quite expect the superb attention to detail on everything inside -- decor, ambiance, menu, meal presentation, quality of ingredients, etc... It is quickly becoming one of our favorite places for a nice dinner in Indianapolis, especially if you are desiring to have conversation... More

Oakley's is a local restaurant with a GREAT reputation. We had dinner there for the first time in a long time. The food is excellent. The service is excellent. The 4-star review instead of 5 is because I feel like they diminish the excellence with the way items are priced on their menu and their pour for wine/drinks is skimpy.... More

If you don't have anything else here then just go for the dessert - the Tulip cheese "concoction" is to die for. The garnish of watercress gave this sweet cheesy dessert a surprising kick. It certainly kicked up a few notches the experience. Simply an awesome dessert. The vegetarian paella was a superb blend of different tastes and textures. I... More

Went here on a busy Saturday night for a birthday dinner. We had reservations, a must!, and were seated right away. Tried many things on their small plates, medium plates and full plates offerings. I started with the Shrimp corndogs- all breading, very little sauce for dipping, pass on this one. Several had the bacon wrapped apricots and they raved... More

A friend sent me to Oakley's about 10 years ago... for lunch. I remembered it was excellent. Since I was staying on N. side of Indy, I decided to see f it was still there. Was it ever. Normally not one to enjoy dining by myself..this dinner was over the top. Creativity on menu items was such that you wanted... More

Great cozy restaurant, presentations of the food are exquisite from salad to main course. Once you taste the food, your mouth will drop because each bite is so delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant. This is definitely a 5-Star restaurant.

Try the lemon risotto. It's delicious. Served in a tasty little cup with a cheesy topping - it's mouthwatering! The rainbow trout was delicious - served with veggies. We also tried the fettuccini with chicken artichoke meatballs. I liked the meatballs better than the fettuccini - it was served with a tomato sauce that was fresh-tasting but a little bland.... It’s commonly thought that you know you’ve found your life’s calling if you’d do your job for free. Chef Steven J. Oakley personifies that idea. His career began at age 16 when he offered his services to a suburban Chicago restaurant for free: “I just wanted to work, I wanted to learn,” says Oakley. That emphasis on hard work and continual learning has culminated in Chef Oakley arriving at the top of his profession in Indianapolis.

That structured education didn’t temper his need to learn from other chefs in other kitchens and he spent many weekends traveling to New York City to work in some of the most prestigious restaurants in the country, including The Park Avenue Café and Lutece—for free of course. He spent summers back in Chicago where he worked at the famous Charlie Trotter’s. Following a brief stint at the Scottsdale Princess Resort in Arizona, Chef Oakley returned home to Chicago where he worked for another landmark restaurant, Printer’s Row, and again, Charlie Trotter’s.
