Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The service was lovely. The area was clean and welcoming. The menu, however, was limited and boring. I ordered a mushroom burger. It was disappointing, to say the least. A lovely fresh bun, with a small smear of mayonnaise and pesto sauce, a fried, tasteless...mushroom was topped with a piece of plastic cheese and a bit of lettuce, not a lovely leaf, the core bit of the lettuce. I would have liked a coffee to finish off my meal, alas, no tea or coffee is served. I would not recommend purchasing a meal, for the price.More

Went for a mid week lunch with friends. Simple ordering process at a counter inside. Same with drinks from the bar. Staff were friendly and efficient. Was surprised by the food offerings beyond the expected pub staples. I ordered the entree special emu pastrami donut...with sauerkraut and mustard mayonnaise. Great range of flavours and textures. For main it was Wild boar ragu, withpaccheri pasta and pecorino. A large excellent serve. Other in the party were happy with their choices. I imagine given the extensive seating that weekends must be really buzzy.More

Matt the Manager and his staff were excellent - Matt in particular made our 2 night stay special - reserving tables for dinner and Tuesday Trivia so we didn't miss out. Great comfy, clean rooms and excellent food. We'll be back. A great Aussie pub...with hospitality how it should be! Congratulations.More

I was trying to avoid this however it's happened too many times for me to stay silent. Keep a close on the price you are paying for your drinks. I was charged $58.60 for 4 beers last weekend. Based on my experience and other discussions...with others this happens very often at this establishment. I frequent the place a few times a month and almost every time this "accidently' happens. I have called them out on it before which instead of refunding me they instead offer me a free beer which really wasn't free since they are overcharging patrons. Talking to other locals about this and they have warned me to be very careful when paying for drinks. I believe this is how they operate because it can't happen every single time over the last 12months, really has put a bad taste in my mouth. The food is nice and the beer is cold just don't be stung otherwise you'll be as bitter as me about it.More

We went to a acoustic gig at the Eltham pub - the music was fantastic but the noise from inside the pub ruined the experience! All they had to do was close the windows in the pub! Very rude for the musicians and those that...paid for the experience!More

Great pub , great food but there’s an old junkie next door that patrols his front nature strip like an army sargeant , we parked nearby and copped a spray off the ding bat , lucky for him I was in a good mood as...it’s a fair way for an ambulance to come from LismoreMore

Good food. Great atmosphere. Generally very pleasant. We stopped for lunch on our way from Lismore to Brisbane. It was very busy and our son’s lunch came out, was eaten and cleared long before our dishes did. But this was the only qualm we had...with the place. Our lunches were generous and delicious. The cosy atmosphere and friendly staff, combined with live music and picturesque location made our day. Picture of our side dish: baked pumpkin with walnut cream and chickpeas. Scrumptious!More

Great service, delicious pub lunch. Six friends met up at Eltham pub and despite weather being cool, the ambience was warm and whole afternoon was a delight. Great, friendly, informal staff. Exactly what a classic hinterland pub ought to be. X

I have held off reviewing the “ new” incarnation of Eltham Pub for a while, determined to give the new owners a chance. I honestly don’t know who could be giving such good reviews about the food , unless it’s friends and family of the...owners. As genuine locals we have been regular patrons of the hotel for around a decade. The food used to be delicious, country restaurant food and behind the bar were bottles of sublime spirits available at reasonable prices. Now the food is very ordinary but with very high prices and as for the alcohol, expensive. The one positive change is that the Sunday afternoon musicians play later into the afternoon than they used to. We still attend to talk with other locals over a drink on a Sunday afternoon, or meet up with friends who enjoy some music and atmosphere, but we will drive into Alstonville, Lennox or Ballina for dinner from now on.More

The food was pretty ordinary and my son almost swallowed a piece of metal. Though they gave us a refund the waitress was very apologetic we were disappointed the Manager did not even come and apologise for what could have been a dangerous situation...though the...atmosphere is great, we won’t be backMore

Lunch at the Eltham Hotel, very enjoyable! Our mid-week visit was the first time since it was taken over by its current owners whom we had read about. We all had a main course. The beer battered fish and chips, standard pub grub, was done...well; the batter complemented the good fish flesh and didn’t overpower it as can often be the case. The harrisa baked cauliflower salad, on the special list, was divine; every component was tasty and complemented the other components. The massaman chick pea curry, also a special, was likewise very tasty and we could taste the individual components; this is a level above many massaman curries served in Thai restaurants. Service was very friendly, efficient and helpful. Whilst many of the dishes are in the pub grub category, but well done, it also has some well executed meals outside common pub grub food. The external courtyard with rural vista provided an enjoyable atmosphere. Well done Eltham Hotel owners and we will return.More
