Visited the restaurant recently for dinner and it was a weak experience. The place was virtually empty and service as others have said was haphazard. Food selections are vast but portions and presentations are more on the small side. Food was fresh and flavors good but proteins were very non existent. Pricing is on the low side - where can... More
Fast and pleasant service for carry out orders. Food is good, nothing spectacular, average menu, pretty much what would be expected from a neighborhood Thai restaurant.
Family run business, the food is quite good. It is more popular for take away. I will definitely visit again if I'm in the area.
I can't stand that any Thai restaurant will substitute lemon juice for lemongrass in the main contribution of Thai cuisine to the world, Tom Kha Gai. Insult was added to injury when they brought a stir fried dish heated in the microwave one side scalding hot and the other cold. Poor service that would be cute if food was good.... More
Golden Elephant has very good Thai food in a nice setting with good service. It was about a 5 minute walk from our hotel, Marriott Springhill Suites which is 4 miles from O'Hare Airport. If you are staying in this area, this would be a good choice for Thai food.
Located on Higgins Rd., just east of Cumberland Ave., this is a small restaurant that is apparently family-owned. We had the Thai spring rolls with peanut sauce, as well as the deep-fried spring rolls for appetizers. Then we had the Thai combo fried rice and a glass noodle dish. The staff [a server/hostess and her mother(?)] were very friendly. Reasonably... More
Lunch special was served with soup which was soooo good! Rolls were excellent as was the Thai fried rice with chicken. Nothing fancy, just good food. Small establishment with few tables. Immediate, friendly service.
sweet and sour chicken was 8.95, had MAYBE five pieces of chicken that were small strands,,,largest piece about 1/4" x 1/2". kung pao shrimp dish was 8.95 + 2.50 additional charge for shrimp.....total shrimp 4, size about 1" each, including tail. very disappointed, will not order again.
We stopped into the Golden Elephant on a whim and had a lovely meal. The food is flavoursome and enjoyable, which is perfect. It's a no-frills restaurant, but offers good, well prices food and a fun atmosphere thanks to the owner & her 70's/80's music playing in the background! Just remember it's a BYOB restaurant.
