We visited this restaurant due to its review on PBS Check Please. According to the review we ordered four appetizers to start. That includes grilled octopus, clams in butter broth, fried smelt and beef tongue. Grilled octopus and beef tongue were the best. The little-neck clams has great flavor but it could have a few more clams for the price.... More

My daughter and I were watching public TV and happen to see the program Open Table where average people share experiences at various restaurants. Izakaya Sankyu was the restaurant that was being highlighted that afternoon. Everyone on the show who ate their raved about the variety of items and the freshness. The next night we decided to try it. What... More

We just had lunch her today and it was excellent. the building is divided into two dining areas. Traditional low tables and regular height tables ,,,my legs do not fold up well under those low tables. The menu is very broad with lots of traditional items. Naturally Sushi, sashimi and rolls are popular but they also have a WIDE selection... More

I expected rude waitresses and poor service due to what I have read in Yelp. It says that if your not Japanese, they are rude and give bad service. The 3 ladies that took care of me and my family was actually very nice and attentive. The food was good.... Maybe the ramen stock is a bit on the salty... More

we had a taste for sushi. I had eaten here before typically evening meal. We came in around 2 pm, the open sign was flashing. We were immediately advised that the kitchen would be closing soon and that we would have to hurry our order. We asked to sit in a certain area and then advised they were closing that... More

We were staying nearby for a flight out of ORD and looking for some Asian food. We picked Izakaya Sankyu on a whim and we were blown away. I think we were the only non-asians in the place, other than our waitress, and they even had Sumo matches playing on the TV. Its not a fancy place but wow is... More

This is a great place to eat if you are craving for Authentic Japanese Ramen. There are plenty of varieties to chose from. Go early, otherwise the wait is very long even with reservations.

Let's get this out of the way right in the beginning: I love this place. There are several FACTS here that should be stated right off the bat: 1. On any given night, Japanese/Asian customers often outnumber non-Asian customers. In fact, if you can pick out the Japanese language, you will find that a lot of Japanese frequent this place....
