We were in a business trip but ended up going out on Valentines Day. The menu was the special menu for the occasion. I had the scallops for appetizer, ribeye steak for entree. Both are great. For desert I had the raspberry cheesecake it was good but I wish I had scraped the raspberry "jam" off. The selection of wine... More

The Tavern is pricey but the food, drinks and service well worth the higher price. The fillet mignon and asparagus tender cooked to a perfect medium rare. The whiskey cocktails were excellent.

Love the Tavern's cocktail lounge. Great place for a drink and some light snacks. A good pre-dinner place (as there are so many awesome restaurants in Libertyville these days — it's nice to try a couple places in one night) I especially enjoy the Tavern when it's winter time. Very cozy and comfy.

Just had dinner here to celebrate our son's graduation from Navy Bootcamp. The interior of the restaurant is really striking, decorations everywhere -- a lot of bling. But cool! We had a delicious dinner and at the end they comped our sons dinner. Wow!! It brought tears to my eyes. What a classy gesture!!

The staff are very professional and the ambience seems suited to business dinners as well as special family occasions. The food is excellent - I would highly recommend the bone-in ribeye. Deserts are delicious.

My boyfriend and I decided to try this restaurant because there was no wait. We were sat at a nice little table with water and a complimentary hard bread with spread. The service was lovely and very attentive. I ordered a chicken dish that came dry, but had good presentation. My boyfriend ordered the soft shell crab and to be... More

This was our first experience eating at the Tavern. As we had reservations, we were seated upstairs in the quiet dining area. The decor is interesting. Very red. But I kind of liked it. The wine list is extensive and fairly priced overall. The food was really, really nicely prepared and delicious. Other than foie gras, which I happen to... More

We ate there with our son who lives in the area. A good atmosphere with friendly staff. The food was high quality US steakhouse fare. The steaks were tasty and well cooked, the wine list was also extensive with a good choice of domestic and imported wines.

Same ownership as Firkin, The Tavern creates an environment and menu for a special occasion. Terrific steaks and other American fare served by a knowledgeable and experienced waitstaff, expect to pay for what you get. I did not leave with "buyers remorse" however as the experience was near perfection.

Yes, it's expensive, but The Tavern is easily my favorite place in downtown Libertyville. I'm a big fan of their cocktails. The wait staff are great. They will remember you, even if there's a few months between visits. I love the atmosphere. Great place for meeting up with friends, especially if you want to be able to have a conversation... More
