I've had a few meals here - dinner and lunch - and found the kitchen very consistent and imaginative. It is very popular, and therefore often crowded, but the noise level is tolerable (not quiet, by any means, but not disturbingly noisy either). The traditional Creole gumbo is particularly good, richly flavored, generous portion.

The Gage has the best Irish breakfast this side of Dublin! The breakfast sausages are house made as is most everything! The cuisine is excellent, savory, imaginative and outstanding. The soups are always special as well. One of my can't fail go to restaurants.

Read about the Gage while researching restaurants for our Chicago trip. We go to Chicago every year for a medical meeting and try a new place each year. Well this year's new spot was a winner. We will definitely add it to the permanent list. The menu had incredible range. We had our friend with us and our 10 year... More

When you first walk in the atmosphere is alive. The place is buzzing. They have a big old beautiful bar. The bartenders are right on top of it assisting you with your drink order. We came here with five business colleagues. Our seats were in a huge wrap around leather booth. You weren't crammed in with a hundred other tables... More

The menu is outstanding. Mid size menu but the food was amazing. The wine and beer list was 6 pages.

We were on able to get reservations on a Tuesday night, so we sat at the bar and we're perfectly comfortable and tended to. However, there was another couple who did have reservations and were not seated on time, and they were at risk of missing their theatre start time. But the maître d' work harder to accommodate them, and... More

Busy upscale atmosphere. Stopped with my sister. Didn't need a big meal, and portions were satisfying. Had perfectly done duck breast with cassoulet. My sister had the salmon special, which was layered in flavors and also perfect cooked. Bread was a nutty artisan small loaf that was chewy and filling. Sis had a very nice Riesling, and I had the... We had a party of 5 for dinner two weeks ago. The food is good. My lamb shank is a bit over cooked, but the dessert is good. My party enjoys their entree dishes. Service is great, and we have a good time.

Right in the thick of it, The Gage is a well run central meeting spot, with a good all round eating / bar facility. Good Menu and well stocked bar. Good attentive and helpful staff, nothing too much trouble to make your stay more enjoyable.
