There is a lot of good choices for dining in Chicago but finding one with the right cuisine, atmosphere, location and pricing is still challenging. Carmine's was a great selection. The menu has a wide range of Italian cuisine in an authentic old town setting. Our selections of braised short rib ravioli and shrimp risotto were wonderful. The service was... More

We did not eat here, but heard the had music on Friday nights, so we went to listen to music and have a drink. Our bartender was fantastic. I wish I could remember her name and the entertainment was excellent. He sang a lot of the old Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, etc. hits. Definitely worth going to.

I don't think it is even possible to have a bad meal or experience at a Carmine's. if you did, its not their fault! We had absolutely superior service that was second to none. The food was absolutely out of this world. Veal milanesae on the bone was my entree with a delicious arugula and tomato salad. For an appetizer... More

We had two couples and were actually running a little late for a 6 dinner on a Saturday. We called and let them know and they were fine with it. We probably got there about ten to fifteen minutes late and our table was waiting. That was terrific. Then we had prompt service and the food was terrific. The calamari... More

Food was excellent. We had the eggplant parmesan for an appetizer and it was so good. The cavetelli il forno were so excellent. OMG! And the portions were huge! Service was great too.

We went with two other couples and had a very relaxing and enjoyable evening upstairs, with great service from RACHEL. The caprese and house salads were good as usual, as well as the rigatoni ala vodka. We also were exposed to a new menu entree: the eggplant 14" pizza that could easily feed three or four. We also saw a... More

To begin, I am sure many of you, like me, have gone to downtown Chicago restaurants where the staff acts as though their "stuff" doesn't stink, just because they work for a fine restaurant...you know, they make you feel as though you are so lucky to have them serving you. Well, at Carmine's, nothing could be further from the truth.... More

I was here on a business dinner and there was a group of 14 people. We ordered a large variety of appetizers for the group to share. Every last fork full was eaten. For dinner I had a fish dinner, very good. For dessert, one person ordered the chocolate cake which stood about 8" tall. After seeing that, 1/3 of... More

Staying in Gold Coast

Neighbourhood Profile
Gold Coast
Located just north of The Loop, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s most affluent and popular neighborhoods. The original Playboy, Hugh Hefner, once had a mansion here.
