This restaurant recently moved a few blocks away and we finally tried it in its new location. Although we live in the neighborhood, we walked but found that Parking is available with the Valet at the restaurant across the street, however this is not noted on any signage at either restaurant. Their wine list was predominantly Italian wines, with minimal... More

Get the salmon salad at lunch. For starters, it's just the right amount. Better yet, the kitchen at Pane Caldo respects the flesh: Not overdone, not over-spiced. Other restaurants should send their staff here to see how to preserve the nature of salmon meat. The atmosphere is mature and subdued, a nice break from the clamor of scenester joints. I... More

Pane Caldo was a small restaurant that my husband I discovered years ago when we would visit Chicago on annual business trips. We took several people with us over the years but were heartbroken to find that it had closed a couple of years ago. We are so happy to find that it has reopened in a nearby location and... More

I opted to go here thanks to the awful weather, so popped across the road from my hotel for ease. Dark and moody, it looked fine for an evening meal Nearly empty at 7pm on a Wednesday, I was seated quickly. The waiter introduced himself, and was very attentive, if not too much so. Food was decent - average caprese... More

I used to frequent Pane Caldo when it was located on Walton Street. Many people I know were very sad to see this gem close. It turns out that they reopened a few years later (2 years ago) on Chestnut Street and we didn't know about it. The food is even better than I remembered, and the staff is wonderful.... More

We are staying in Tremont Hotel and Ditka's was next door so we went there for a nice supper. They were too full to seat 2 people and when we asked if we could wait for a table they discouraged us and were rude. We were quite dressed up but decided we would wander and find another restaurant. Right across... More

We happened onto this restaurant because it was across the street from our hotel and next to Starbuck's. The menu was intriguing. A four-course tasting menu is offered, or ala carte offerings. Dishes are attractively plated and bursting with flavor. Recommend a wonderful beet salad, the ravioli pasta, Scottish salmon, and the short ribs. Save room for dessert too.

Our service was very slow for lunch - and there were only 4 or 5 other tables. They were out of most of their white wines. Our Veal Scalopinni was extremely salty and small. Best part of the meal was the olive paste for the complementary bread. Price point was higher then we expected also. We won't be back...

We went to the Signature Lounge at the John Hancock tower and disappointment was an understatement. We picked Pane Caldo due to the close proximity to the tower and we were impressed from the beginning. Arriving an hour before our reservations (because we left the Signature Lounge), Richard took care of us at the bar. Great conversation, great service and... More
