Food reminded me of my time in Asia. The dim sum was just right portions and very tasty. The shanghai pork dumplings were just like I had in Shanghai and we had 2 mains to share that were plenty tasty and right portion for sharing. Service was spot on. This isn't typical "American" Chinese but fine dining. Very nice and... More

Glamorous with excellent service. Peking duck was best anywhere though can't recall if it came with the soup. Perfect splurge if the weather's bad and you don't want to go out.

I’m not really a big fan of Chinese food but Shanghai Terrace could convert me. My husband and I were given a gift certificate and made the trip into the city on a Friday night for dinner. The atmosphere was great in spite of being seated next to a huge party of business people trying to be heard by everyone... More

We were in town visiting family and the hotel told us about this place. We could only get a late reservation, but it was worth it. They could add more the menu, but one good thing is that they had no problem customizing the meals to make their customers happy. I had the Shanghai Fried Noodles. Normally I'm not to... More

Since it is so bitter cold, we opted to eat in the hotel. This is a whole new take on Chinese...scallops with truffles, foie gras dumplings, great service and perfect atmosphere.

We have dined at Chicago's Peninsula Hotel at 108 East Superior, a few steps west of North Michigan Avenue, on several occasions. Its former signature restaurant closed a few years ago. But we never tried the Shanghai Terrace until recently, perhaps because we never were anxious to sample Chinese cuisine. But we like Thai food. So why not Chinese? Shanghai... More
