The staff at this restaurant is simply amazing. Whenever I travel to Chicago be it for business or pleasure, Alain, the owner makes sure to greet me in person and goes out of his way to make sure I am enjoying my meal. Excellent lamb dishes and easily the best steak tartare I have had.

Having lived in Paris, I often seek out French restaurants. I love the French people and the excellent cuisine. However, the chef/owner of Le Petit Paris was extremely arrogant. I had picked the restaurant from reviews on line, and was dining with a college friend I hadn't seen in over 20 years. We were both very disappointed in our evening.... More

One of our favorites when we visit the city from the "burbs". We've been going to Le Petite Paris for many years. Actually we were customers when it was originally Zavens and I did a lot of client entertaining there. Le Petite Paris continued the fine dining tradition and added Alain's French influence. Last night, my wife and I, along... More

We really liked this unassuming small bistro in a quiet residential area in Downtown Chicago My wife and I both had the Coq au bin and was spectacular. Best one I have had outside of France. Worth coming just for that!!! Pleasant service and attentions from the owner. Great place for a romantic dinner.

This is a small (11 table) restaurant about 3 blocks off of Michigan Avenue, on Chestnut. It is located on the ground floor of a tall condo building. Alain, the owner and chef, visits the market each morning and bases his menu on what is fresh. I have eaten here probably 10 times, sometime alone, sometimes with colleagues. The food... More

this simple french bistro in a wonderful Gold Coast/ Streeterville neighborhood is off the beaten path. Located in a condo/apartment building a block off the lake, the owner Alain is a charming host. Playing in background is French renditions/classic music. The menu has several classics like onion soup or a coq au vin but is hardly limited. Fresh ingredients served... More

A small group of friends meet here periodically for "ladies night out". Its a small, intimate dining room a little off the beaten path, but convenient to the Magnificient Mile. They no longer offer a prix fixe menu, but its still easy to sample a lot of items without going bankrupt. I spent several months eating my way through France... More

This French restaurant makes you feel like home (if you are French of course). The food is simple but of high quality. The service and the atmosphere are most friendly.

Honestly I did not check review prior going to this restaurant but I did not have high expectation either. Being French myself, I was just curious to see this French restaurant in the neighbourhood. It turned out to be a very good surprise for me. Good starting point with a very good glass of wine to affordable price: $7!! Then... More

The owner, waiter must hate his job -- as simple as that. There are no words to describe how uncomfortable he made this first-time diner feel. The food was average at best, but with all the far better restaurants in the city, why spend a miserable evening here? He reminded me of the "soup-Nazi" on the Seinfeld episode. I always... More

Staying in Streeterville

Neighbourhood Profile
Streeterville
Streeterville is where visitors head for play at Navy Pier, a pseudo amusement park and development of restaurants, shops, rides, and other activities. You’ll find lots of action and excitement on the docks. Along the pier, you’ll see the statue of the captain for whom Streeterville is named. While you enjoy your fair share of sightseeing at the pier, you can also visit other popular attractions there such as the Chicago Children’s Museum and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Off the pier you’ll find more restaurants from low-cost pubs to high-end establishments. Arts and culture aficionados should be sure not to miss the Museum of Contemporary Art.
