This Spanish tapas bar is a wonderful space in a building on Michigan avenue . We had a good selection of tapas and excellent Rioja. The tapas were not much really like those I've had in Spain but were good though expensive.

Since we love Spain so much I took my wife on a culinary tour of Barcelona right on Michigan Avenue at Mercat a la Planxa. Whatever your pleasure, Chef Jose Garces' mod-Mediterranean kitchen delivers a dose of Catalan soul straight to your table. Direct from...More

We visited there for a dinner. Restaurant was inside the renaissance hotel by the lake. The tapas choices were good so does the cocktails we have had. Good place to try a sharing menu of 4-5 different tapas.

Every time my coworker and I visit Chicago, we go to Mercat for dinner. We don't even discuss it, as it's just a given that we're going. The cocktails are great, as are the tapas dishes. BUT, the seafood paella and black rice will bring...More
