Someone said that this place is a Chicago classic and indeed it is. The decor, the ambience, the live music, the food, the service. The value for money. What more can I say! Simply excellent!

There was a great selection of German fare. I had a chicken dish (I can't remember the name). It was absolutely delicious. There are quite a few gluten free choices that were delicious. In fact, all the dishes in our party were gluten free, only...More
Friendly service and excellent food. Mostly German cuisine. Price is quite moderate compared to NYC, including drinks. Large portions, better share. We went for lunch as well as dinner.
This place is a Chicago classic and never disappoints. Was there last week and the sauerbraten is to die for! The Weiner Schnitzel is quite good too. Be sure to get the red cabbage on the side. We all ordered slight modifications of our main...More

This is a "must go to" spot whenever I'm in Chicago. From a large dinner to just vegetables (try the roasted Brussels sprouts!), this is great German cuisine. Also, the wait staff and kitchen are good about reasonable substitutions.

I had the Berghoff on my list for this trip to Chicago. It's one of the iconic local spots, right on the beginning end of Route 66. The food is German which I really enjoy. I was there on a Friday night, early enough so...More
