One woman operation, but if you are not in a hurry, you are in for a treat. Freshly brewed coffee/iced tea, bluegill and catfish dinners and sandwiches, many other choices, hamburger, cheeseburger, fries (usual American favorites) but she also has liver and onion dinner, etc. She is hardworking, clean, friendly, and her husband, kids, and grandkids help out and keep... wow! I'm confused at the other negative posts! Were we in the same place?!? These people were precious & the food was delicious. When I give "5 stars\exellent" I'm (of course) comparing apples to apples. A little "hole-in-the-wall" in southern Illinois. But I did not notice any bad odors or any dirt or anything that would keep me from entering! This... More

To be honest, we did not actually eat here. We couldn't. We wanted to. We walked in with every intention of laying down money and enjoying a meal here. We were hungry and ready to eat, but upon opening the front door to the establishment, we were overcome by such a pungent odor that after taking it all in, we... More

Really good catfish hushpuppies and coleslaw. I also enjoyed the cheeseburger. Mr/Mrs Dutton are very friendly having grown up in the are. They have been in business 30+ years

Two places to eat in town. Walked in and the smoke of burnt grease in the fryer made my eyes burn. Left and went to Rosie's with out ever sitting down.

This is a fantastic casual restaurant known for their deep fried catfish. It is a premium catfish with an exceptionally good breading. You have a choice of at least 10 sides + deep fried pickles. The food is not good for your cholesterol or blood pressure, but I look forward to eating there at least once a year. We always... More

Fried catfish for me, chicken fried steak for Connie. Good food, good prices. We will go back. It's a good stop to make because as soon as you get off the ferry it's there on your left, can't miss it.

As I was getting ready to write this review, I was prompted to answer if this was one of the best meals I've ever had in a restaurant. The answer, strangely enough, is yes. Dutton's Cafe isn't fancy, but hey, it's Cave-In-Rock. The exterior of the building says the "Best Catfish In Southern IL." It is. Grandpa is the owner,... More

We went here for breakfast, and could not believe the prices. It is like stepping back into the 70s. Coffee, 50 cents. Egg and sausage, $1.50. We got two breakfasts, coffee, orange juice, and biscuits and gravy for under $10.00. The hash browns are sliced very thin and are almost like shoestring potatoes. They used pepper gravy on the biscuits... More
