I went to Grandpa's BBQ with a co-worker on a business trip recently. It is hidden away tucked behind other businesses in a shared space. I highly recommend going. Grandpa's is run by Lloyd and his wife. They are genuinely the nicest couple I've met in a very long time. It is a small space that is dated but it... More

This about our third time stopping for a meal. When you consider we live about 200 miles away, that says something. Anyway we had the lunch specials and really enjoyed meals. I decided to try the Buttermilk pie since I'd never heard of it before - it was delicious! We will probably stop in again on our next trip through... More

This place is the best place to eat real food in the state. The brisket and pulled pork are off the chart. The best sides that I have ever eaten are the beans and slaw. The pecan pie might be the best on the earth. The service is always great! I will be back every time I travel into Idaho... More

It is inside of a run down building. Tables were very "yucky". Most had plastic covers, ours only had a table cloth that was badly stained and otherwise dirty. Waitress was very friendly. We read in other reviews about how good their sweet tea and brisket was...wrong. The tea we were given tasted terrible-I'm not sure if they intentionly used... More

We tried this place based on the positive reviews and a love of bbq. We should have walked out as soon as we realized that every table was sticky. There was only one person working so the service was terrible. I had to get up and pour my own coffee because I think she was the cook too. When the... More

This place came with rave reviews but I was less than impressed. The food was good but not the best BBQ I have ever had. The owners and staff were fantastic and made the experience worth while but I would choose a different BBQ place next time.

We have been going to Grandpa's for several years now. My wife lived in Tennessee for a few years and this food brought back memories of how bbq should be done! We get the family style dinner which is a whole chicken (quartered) ribs, 3 sides and cornbread muffins. The chicken is incredibly moist and smokey, and the ribs have... More

This is a family run restaurant, and it uses a real smoker to get the real b-b-q flavor. Ribs and pulled pork are smothered in a delicious sauce that is available to take home to use when you are cooking at home.

Grandpa's is located in downtown Idaho Falls. Took us a minute to find it but well worth the effort! A son of Kentucky moves to Idaho, via several other states, and opens a BBQ place. The brisket was delish, moist and tender, great flavor. Almost like TEXAS the brisket capitol of the world! Ribs were tender, fall off the bone.... More

First and foremost, Lloyd is a wonderful, soulful man who truly believes in the finest customer service. The brisket had incredible flavor, ribs were tender with a delicate rub, and the bar-b-que parfait was lunch perfection. The restaurant is inside another building and has the feel of an old fashioned diner. This is definitely worth the visit. We'll come back... More
