We struggled to find somewhere suitable to eat, but this fitted the bill. The food was well cooked and the service good.

It's just been announced that this place is closing for renovations, and reopening with a new concept. Our recent experience would indicate that this is a good idea. Overpriced and substandard (cold steak, wrong sides, overdressed salad) added up to an expensive lesson in where...More

Visited here for an early dinner in the middle of the week between Christmas and New Years. Service was excellent. I ordered the Prime Rib, hubby had a burger, our guests had the trout and the special (ribeye and shrimp). We inquired about the appetizers...More

I really enjoyed the old Shoney Restaurant that used to occupy this building! Still wonder why they left? We first tried the Chophouse of Hiawassee shortly after they first opened! Absolutely the most horrendous service I've ever experienced! The service was so bad I can't...More

We lunched here as we usually do while in the area. Food seemed subpar this time. Quesadilla was greasy, French onion soup very oniony. Thought we'd order the Friday lunch special thatweve enjoyed in the past. We were there during the lunch menu but the...More

If you cannot leave the City Limits of Hiawassee, then the Chophouse is just fine. But if you're willing to drive ten more minutes, the definitely go to Copper Door in Hayesville or to Enrico's in Young Harris. For the money, the Chophouse was nothing...More

Anytime we are in Hiawassee, we go to the Chophouse. We love the steak! It is cooked correctly and yummy. This is more of an upscale dining establishment, good for date night or entertaining guests. Make reservations or you will be waiting awhile at dinner...More

We always split a meal at most restaurants so we were a bit annoyed to be told there was a $5 up charge to share. But as we were there and tired we said ok. Well it was worth it. We each got a complete...More

We were staying next door and went there because of convenience. The restaurant was not what I would call a fine dining place. I expected it to be priced something like Applebee's, O'Charley's, or Red Lobster. My husband got a bison burger and I got...More

We selected the Chop House because of the TripAdvisor reviews. Let me lay it out: Without a reservation, we were seated in about 20 minutes, experienced excellent service, and had a tasty meal at reasonable prices. We would eat here again, and recommend it. The...More

This place is temporarily closed due to renovation. It will reopen in Spring 2017.

The Chophouse of Hiawassee will be closed beginning on January 2nd for renovations. Chef James will be introducing his new concept "Hawg Wild BBQ and Catfish House" sometime in early spring. This will be his 4th such restaurant with the other locations being in Clarkesville, Commerce and lake Burton, Georgia. The renovations will include a redesign of the dining room and kitchen areas, covering the front lakeview patio and building a new smokehouse. Hawg Wild BBQ and Catfish House is known for it's authentic BBQ and the freshest catfish available. We look forward to welcoming you to the new restaurant this spring!
