Reason for Visit: Had dinner with another couple.
Location: Great location, tucked away in a nice quite neighborhood with plenty of paid parking, so download the park mobile app 3 hours cost me $10.
Ambience: Very nice with a modern décor, there is plenty of...outdoor seating with bar seating locating in the back
Menu Selection: The menu selection is very limited which in mind gave more time to create the best dishes that were available. I was surprised by the fact that substation were not allowed or needed approval from the chef. However, I digress, of course I went for the good old fashion burger with duck fat cooked potatoes which I would highly recommend that you try this selection. Additionally, others at the table went for the seafood dishes which all were cooked to perfection.
Overall Impression: Great food, nice location and worthy of a return visit.More
Loved our experience at this restaurant. My husband had the swordfish with an amazing sauce. I had the salmon from South America and “middlins” . Both entrees were excellent. We ate in the wine cellar and had a wonderful bottle of wine from the Piedmont....The waiter was kind enough to offer us a sample before purchasing the bottle. We especially liked the fact that the menu changes daily. I cant imagine who wouldn’t rate this restaurant 5 stars.More
I really liked the restaurant on my first visit. When I returned, I was extremely disappointed. This is a restaurant with a small menu and will make no alterations to suite your particular taste. My wife and I wanted to share a salad and asked...for dressing on the side. This is forbidden. Either get the salad mixed with dressing or get it with no dressing. We got it dressed and I hated the overwhelming vinegar odor and taste. We ordered brisket as a main dish. It was tasty but tough. I asked for a steak knife and told that they were not available. I really wanted to enjoy my dinner but didn't.More

Sounds like you should just cook for yourself. Why go out to eat if you cannot eat what the chefs are preparing? I'm sure restaurants love seeing you come in.....
We spend 4-5 months every year in Sarasota so we have a chance to sample restaurants all over the city. Indigenous is special. Menu is truly unique: not your "couple seafoods, couple steaks, pasta dish" expected find. Each dish is creatively prepared and seasoned to...perfection. I suspect some of the negative reviews are simply from people who shy away from (or should) -- the unexpected. Indigenous is an opportunity to try something special and unusual, beautifully prepared. Excellent table side service and it's small a just a bit out of the way in an old house, so parking on the street is easily available. Reservations a must, especially in season.More
We had a wonderful dining experience a week ago. We had heard good things and made a reservation for the four of us. Table was ready, staff were well prepared and service was great. We all tried the wild mushroom bisque and it was excellent....We all had different entrees and they were very well prepared, hot and served in a nice timely manner. We also each had a different desert and they were excellent. Servers, kitchen staff and owner all took great care to make sure we enjoyed the experience.More
We put off dining here and finally made it. We were hesitant due to some of the reviews and limited menu. Also received positive comments from several locals who are regulars so decided to give it a try. The food was superb (green salad, shrimp...& scallops, and salmon). Wine list is short but solid. Service was good. It is a true destination place for the foodie type and reminiscent of restaurants in Napa Valley. No other places in town really compare. Bringing some guests visiting town in a couple of weeks. We did hear later that evening, at another establishment, that the restaurant is for sale. Will be interesting to see what happens.More
