We had our anniversary dinner at Cielo tonight! They offer a great wine list with wine by the glass or bottle all priced very reasonable. There is something for every budget! For our starter we had the Escargot Rockefeller that we shared. My husband had the Veal Scallopini Marsala and I had the Pan Seared Red Snapper. For dessert He had the John’s Sundea and I let our server surprise me. My dessert was the Chocolate Salted Caramel Mousse Cake. All staff were professional and very accommodating with safety precautions. Our server was Christine, she was excellent throughout our entire evening. We will be sure to request her each time we dine at Cielo for sure! The setting of the restaurant and the talent of the gentleman, Scott McDonald, playing the piano this evening was an excellent dining experience! Upon leaving we were made aware that they do have a happy hour in the bar beginning at 4:30 with a full menu.

We have been going to Il Cielo for years... now Cielo. It is one of our favorite if not our most favorite restaurant on the island! The new name fits the renovated restaurant. We have been twice since the reopening. The newly renovated dining room and bar are superb in design, decor and appearance. The dining room is intimate with a delightful sound level. As expected, the bar is quite a bit louder and difficult for the hearing impaired. The Calamari is perhaps the best on the island. Very lightly breaded and pan sautéed with a fragrant tasty sauce likening a bang bang sauce. Their lobster ravioli I had not had in quite some time and was excellent, not overwhelmed in cream sauce with a delightful lobster filling, lobster chunks and sprinkled with a garnish roe that popped in your mouth flavoring the lobster...yum! Our table neighbors had the Atlantic Salmon and Ossobuco and raved about both. Things got a little rushed as our dishes came out on top of each other! Much too fast. We ate in the bar, as it got busier our server/bartender lost his attentiveness. I am, however, a stickler for clean stem wear. There is nothing worse than having a fine Cabernet served in the wrong and dirty wine vessel! You want five *’s, the small stuff matters. Clean the smudge and lip stick!

I was enticed by the "fun cocktails" on the restaurant sign because a good bartender and a great craft cocktail Is always a good find, but oh we found so much more! Initially the idea coming in was to have appetizers and cocktails, but once we saw the menu it was quite evident we could not miss out on the complete fine dining experience. I started with the craft cocktail sunburn because I enjoy a good crisp vodka drink. While some ingredients were missing the bartender stepped up and improvised and did not disappoint. Our server Christine was amazing and coached us through food and cocktail choices and the after dinner cordial and everything paired perfectly. The meal started with the butternut squash bisque, which was perfection! Then for me onto the Caprese, which exploded with great tastes in every bite. I asked for grilled shrimp to pair with the caprese and our server was happy to accommodate. My husband had braised pork belly with scallops. He gave me a taste and the scallops and pork melted in your mouth. I had the chocolate mousse cake for dessert, I usually don't indulge, but this was worth every sinful calorie! It was a slice of heaven in every bite! My husband got the tiramisu and grappas cordial. Perfect ending to an amazing meal! The atmosphere was fantastic including the pianist Scott who chose just the right selections to compliment your meal. Our experience truly was a 5 star. We will be back!

Came to Cielo hoping to celebrate an anniversary and Covid vaccination +14. First impression walking in was perefct: live pianist, stunning design, lots of room between tables. Seated at an airy corner table. Taking it in as we awaited our server, my wife only half joked that perhaps we could dine here at the bar on our last nite, as reservations were hard to get. Our server introduced himself, took a drink order along with our meal choices. After a bit of time our wine, bread and appetizers arrived nearly simultaneously. We straightened out the confusion in the wine order, and started in. The house salad sounded great: specially prepared watermelon cubes, feta, pumpkin seeds, feta, and a special vinaigrette. In actuality it was a classic “ no more than the sum of its parts...” The watermelon could have come from Jerrys up the street moments before, the feta not elevated, and the dressing did nothing to bring things together. Tuna taco bites alternated between tasty and just vaguely fishy. To the entrees; mine a nightly special of roasted grouper. Nice presentation. The server arrived to check on us before I had tried the fish. Took a corner taste from the grouper, sensed it might be dry, but decided to continue hoping the thicker portions would be moist. Nope. Moving on the whipped potatoes, carrots, and asparagus beneath the fish, they were warm heading to room temp in a hurry. Not for me. As I was unable to see our waiter for some time to address the above, I did enjoy several bites of my wife’s sea bass. Nicely done. When our server finally did return I explained the above issues. He took my plate, said he would address with chef immediately. Crickets: no response, no apology, no recompense. I asked for the check. Perusing the bill I noticed the grouper was billed as $39 even though the printed special menu said $32. Server went looking for someone to help. A few minutes later a female who did not identify herself came over, pointed at the $32 printed on the specials menu, said it was wrong, and that the ordering system’s $39 was correct. “ but in this instance I will make an adjustment...” Huh? And what about other diners who might not look as closely at the bill? Net, net we want to like, no love Cielo. Someone has put a bloody fortune into the place, and set a high bar. But at least in our case, they missed. We’ll be dining elsewhere our last nite on-island.

We started off with them not having the reservation we booked directly through their website 3 days ago. They sat us but the waiter we had was not attentive to us at all. He was busy with a birthday Cake and his tables were all scattered throughout. He apologized once and we thought it would get better but it didn’t. He brought us water, wait 15 mins to take drink order, get drinks, wait 15 mins to take appetizer order, wait 15 minutes take dinner order ... we were there over two hours and skipped dessert bc we were just ready for it to be over. We have been several times prior to the renovation and often recommended the place. Tonight was a big miss for us. The food was good but the portions have gotten smaller and there wasn’t even one piece of fish on the menu or the daily specials which is a big disappointment for us bc we try to eat fresh seafood when we eat out on island.

Two visits to this newly refurbished restaurant which is beautiful and inviting. Lovely choices on the Happy Hour menu;convivial atmosphere. Brunch was quieter. The Lobster Benedict looked very good and was enjoyed by members of our party. My crab cake over salad felt more like a small appetizer. Good attentive service.

This was our first trip to Sanibel Island. We had looked at several restaurants on Trip Advisor and picked Cielo’s for one of our dinners. We are really glad that we did. When we arrived, we were greeted, by name. The entire staff was very professional, especially our waiter. We shared their outstanding calamari appetizer, I had their bouillabaisse and my wife had their lobster ravioli with squid ink pasta. Both were outstanding. The combination of the professional staff and excellent food made for a very enjoyable evening. We highly recommend Cielo’s and we will be dining there next year when we return to Sanibel Island.

Three of us ordered from Cielo’s curbside pick-up menu last night. All three dinners were superb. Rack of lamb with added shrimp; scallops; and lobster ravioli. Fresh, perfectly cooked, beautifully prepared, and delicious! The chefs did a great job of accommodating my dietary requests. Thank you, my good friends at Cielo! It was so wonderful to eat your cooking instead of mine for the first time since “Stay at Home” began!

My wife and I spent the week at Sanibel Island to celebrate our anniversary and Cielo was by far the best dining experience! The ambience was classy, the servers were knowledgeable and always willing to help (we were served by Christine who was hilarious, professional, knowledgeable and engaging). The prices might be a little bit more than other restaurants but it’s well worth it for a meal that you’ll definitely enjoy! We found other restaurants for dinner pretty disappointing, which ends up feeling like a waste of money. But Cielo did not disappoint at all. We had the calamari and ribs for apps and the lamb rack and pork chop for dinner. My favourite was the calamari (the added Mango Coulis and cashews was very unique) and the pork chop (it was well seasoned with lots of flavour). For dessert we had the crepe brûlée, which is a generous serving that we shared. If you want a meal that you know you’ll definitely and thoroughly enjoy, I would strongly recommend Cielo.

We had a wonderful experience at Cielo. Scott who plays piano and sings adds to the ambiance of an already handsome dining room. Our server, Joe, was attentive, friendly, and made suggestions we found helpful. The special beef rib was tasty tender and prepared with an Asian slant. Others had the very good lobster ravioli and halibut. The house salad was very good and the salted caramel mousse chocolate cake is a standout. If you’re on Sanibel and looking for a special night out, this is the place!

We had a wonderful meal and evening at Cielo. Morgan, our server, attended to us in the most professional and friendly manner. She was very knowledgeable about the entire menu and was extremely kind as we were asking many questions. Scott, the pianist, is as talented as personable. And Chef Melissa's menu was fantastic. The scallops were amongst the best we have tasted. The new restaurant design at Cielo is soft and comfortable. We did not make it to the bar but the drinks brought to us were festive and fun. Overall we enjoyed our evening and we have Morgan, Chef Melissa, Scott, and the entire team at Cielo to thank for such a great night.

You know when you're really looking forward to something special? Well we'd heard good things about Cielo so decided to eat there on our trip to Sanibel. What a big disappointment. The food was really underwhelming - particularly the main courses. Halibut - bland with undercooked (hard) veg, a calamari frito which was soggy and covered in a vague unappetising sauce... The waiter knew how bad it was because when he came with the dessert menu, he also came with the bill (prepare for any eventuality he said..) Living on its reputation? A bad night for the chef? Not sure - but won't be going back in a hurry.

Cielo definitely exceeded our expectations! What a fabulous dining experience the food was amazing, very attentive waiter, socially distanced perfectly throughout the beautiful Restaurant. Highly recommend the Calamari Frittas for your starter, likely the best Calamari we've ever enjoyed! My husband had the special of the night, the Parrot Fish very good. My entree was the Seafood Potpie which was light & flavorful, with the most delicious puff pastry topping shrimp, lobster, scallops...YUM!

We chose to dine here as my birthday treat. So glad we did! Morgan was fabulous and helped us choose just the right menu items. My husband has a food allergy and she quickly made sure his dinner was safe for him. It was an enjoyable evening for my family.

My wife and I had an early dinner at Cielo yesterday evening. The food and atmosphere were fine. Our complaint was the wine. First, the wine prices were on the high end, even for a fine dining restaurant. Second, Cielo offers high-end wines by the glass (2 oz., 4 oz. or 6 oz. pours). Our server stated that these high-end wines are preserved in unopened bottles (presumably by a Corvain wine preservation system or something similar). Relying on this, we ordered a 6 oz. pour of Silver Oak Alexander Valley cabernet sauvignon ($42.00) and a 6 oz. pour of Red Door Reserve Blend red wine ($52.00). Both of these wines were "off" and clearly had been exposed to air for a long enough period of time to affect the taste and character of the wine. I mentioned this to our server, who was polite but lacked understanding of our concern. He stated that he would send a manager to our table, which never happened. While the wine was still moderately enjoyable, it was definitely off. In hindsight, we should have sent it back and avoided the $94 cost.
