Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

This place is now called What The Fish! Café but it’s no longer a café. Now it’s a restaurant, with prices to match that elicit a WTF reaction! Once you could order THE best fish and chips at the takeaway counter for $17.50 or grilled barramundi $22.50 and grab a table to eat at. Simple and enjoyable. Now you pay $25 and $30 respectively for the same meals of a lesser standard, with table service. The flathead is clearly frozen and probably the chips too. They’re certainly not the irresistible batons we used to get here. No tartare sauce provided now either. Asked for aioli, was given bottled mayonnaise (sweet) instead and told it is their in-house aioli ! What The Frustration that this place has changed hands.

Got taken to this lovely cafe by our friends whilst visiting the Marina. This is a really tranquil little spot with glorious view over the surrounding countryside of the national park. Place was really clean and the staff were really friendly and helpful. If you can find something to satisfy you on the menu, there must be something wrong with you as it offers something for everyone and at reasonable prices.

A drive to the waters edge of Berowra Waters and had lunch at the Fish Cafe. I purchased the Grilled Barramundi and for the price it was a small piece of fish. It was cooked well however compared to my mate who purchased a battered piece of fish for less than what I did and his fish was double the size even taking into consideration the batter. The location is a beautiful spot and the weather helped make it a nice lunch also. Overall the portion sizing was the let down. I like to get what I pay for.

Absolutely terrible. We were charged close to $80 for two cold serves of meagre fish and chips, 3 cans of drink and a milkshake. Such a rip off. We used to come for fish and chips here before it’s renovation and it was great. Not anymore.

I think that most of the previous reviews relate to the older owner "Wat The Fish" cafe, the new owners of Water Vista are totally different , younger, vibrants and lots of new ideas. I went today with my daughter, her partner and my granddaughter. I had the classic flathead and chips served with salad. My daughter had the corn fitter roll with salad and her partner had an egg and bacon roll. All servings were of good size, well cooked and full of flavour. No complaints at all. As they are now licensed a Corona well down very well! The inside and outside decor has been completely redone and is very modern, colourful and clean looking. We sat inside and appreciated the newly installed air conditioning on the 35 degree day. I will be returning and can recommend this cafe.

We have been coming here for years. however they have changed hands. We always get takeaway. When I asked if the fish was fresh I was told it was frozen. previous owners definitely had fresh fish. The fish was tiny, dry and tasteless, served with a few green leaves, and soggy chips. Manageress wearing a mask under her chin. They seem to have lots of staff but the service was very slow. Will never go back, it was about $21, so not cheap for a tiny piece of fish..

Seriously disappointing. I’m a local and sadly we won’t be going again. $19 for the smallest piece of fish I’ve ever seen, cut into four and put in a hamburger container on top of salad. The salad was rocket and one piece of tomato, one centimetre square. Chips came in a cup. Total waste of money.

I believe this place is under new management so we went for coffee on a weekend to check it out. Sunday and the carpark was full but the cafe was far from it. We opted for takeaway, waited 25 minutes for a small, weak, lukewarm coffee and devonshire teas consisting of 2 small undercooked scones, and cream which had been packed a few days previous. Lots of staff but no direction or system for taking orders or getting food out to tables. This place could be so much more; location is awesome but once again needs some seriously professional management.

We went to this cafe today, waited over an hour an half for fish tacos, chicken tacos and a small portion of chips. The fish tacos were v average but the chicken tacos were terrible, as were the chips. Overly priced for poor quality food.

My partner and I always looked forward to coming here as the food was always awesome - unfortunately our most recent trip was disappointing. The menu had changed- we were advised the fish wasn't fresh, well fresh but frozen, the portions were smaller - the service was slower and overall very disappointing. Also one of the managers was wearing a mask on her chin! Hopefully the new owners will take on board the feedback and that changes can be made for the better

New owners I understand since last there. Not well organised when you arrive as confusing where to go for table service v take away. Waiter ( young man ) was fine. Had to wait a long time, close to an hour. Odd menu. Unfortunately the food was poor. Salt / Pepper Squid - tasteless overcooked squid in thick batter, Salad was obviously mass produced and sitting around - limp and generally tasteless, chips so so. Fresh fish of the day Barramundi- so so but overcooked. More of the same ssalad & chips. The Roma tomato dish did not arrive and the waiter apologized and deleted it from his iPad before we paid. Great location but doubt we would go back. People opposite enjoyed their mussels. Two other tables near us were still waiting when we left and drove elsewhere for sweets.

The new restaurant has been expanded and looks great as the interior has been expanded but the things our table didn't enjoy were. 1.$5.00 per head corkage charge, tiny wine glass given and no wine service.( which is supposed to be poured)) 2.Small portion of fish ,nicely cooked, but tiny. 3.No Salmon on the menu as previously. 4.$82.50 for 2 fish and chips and one chicken burger. Not great value unfortunately. The food tasted great, but the venue was very quiet for a Saturday evening.Been coming here since 1997 but won't return now as overpriced Fish and chips is by nature a simple meal and these prices don't represent good value.

I had high hopes as the menu was very simple. We ordered the fish of the day and unfortunately it was over cooked and the chips were few. A lovely spot but the food needs to greatly improve, with a decent chef and staff training the restaurant could be easily improved.

I have always loved this cafe one place I couldn't wait to go back to after lockdown. Now the atmosphere food isn't the same any more. Corkage $5/head for wine and beer! is expensive, especially when they don't offer alchohol as an option. Is that legal? Why did you add the surcharge? The salt and pepper squid was tough and hard, over cooked probably because far too busy. The mask wearing is poor the manageress had her mask under the chin the whole time we were there, many other staff did the same while cooking and handling food. I work in health and not wearing mask 'properly" is placing you, your staff, family and customers at risk. Why wear it at all its not attractive under a chin. One young man had his mask on the whole time and was an excellent waiter shame the manager and senior staff dont set that example. Come on pick up your game, is it change of management? Hard to earn a good reputation and very easy to loose. Ill try again but I hope it changes.

Yummy, one of the best fish and chips I've had. Fish was tasty, batter light and crisp, chips delightful and salad to match, not to mention the tartare sauce complimented the meal perfectly 😀 relaxing atmosphere and lovely staff. Thankyou for making our Ride out to Berowra Waters, for the first time, a wonderful experience.
