Time has stopped in this place, the venue is in traditional Estonian style and the food is fresh and of good quality. The host is more friendly than the average Estonian waiters and prices are good. Strongly recommended.

Really good local food and nice atmosphere. They can handle really big groups as well. Prices less than 10€ main course. Eat there rather than Lahemaa kohvikann.

We drove over here from Palmse Manor (found out later there is a walking trail from the house). The huge 1831 farm labourers' quarters are incredibly atmospheric inside with tools, wooden benches and Estonian tchotchkes about. We sat on benches outside in the sun, next to a meadow with sheep and horses. The waitress delivered a complimentary basket of brown... More

The interior is interesting at the tavern, as well outside, where you can see and examine old tools of farm laborers. About the food-the home made bread and butter is really tasty but all the other food, I have ordered, was average as it tasted too bland. Also you have to have much time to wait the food as kitchen works... We stayed at the Palmse Manor Guesthouse and we were told that we could eat here. So we came here for dinner. We both ate chicken fillets covered in mushroom sauces, roast potatoes and warm beetroots. This was our best dinner in the Baltic Countries in 1.5 weeks. We loved it all. We were also served warm Estonian scones, brown and... More

We were very disappointed by this restaurant. The surroundings and overall appearance was firsty nice - but the whole region is very beautiful in general. After entering we had to wait 5-7 mins for a waiter who was also a bartender and cashier and was there alone. The restaurant was full. We ordered main dishes but also garlic bread to... More

Authentic local home made Estonian food. You can find there traditional fish dishes as well as "farm" soups. Be careful when ordering dishes are quite big. You can simply share each meal for two.

The customer service is somewhat slow, especially in the kitchen's side. The meal was made out of good basic ingredients, however, without much spices the taste was almost too bland. The interior is really interesting with many old items and feeling of Estonian heritage.

If you are tire of eating in the Old town, check this out. A small and cozy Italian restaurant, just minutes away from the Old Town. Their home make pastas are wonderful. The waitress is friendly and cheerful. (the other male waiter is the complete opposite, no smile and no emotion at all - not to be alarmed, quite usual... More

Description
This is a tavern that always offers particularly delicious ancestral dishes – real farm labourer’s gruel, homemade bread, and butter are always on the table.

If desired, larger meals are also available because the tavern staff welcomes each wayfarer as a dear and awaited relative who must not leave hungry and parched. It is also obvious, that if weather permits, the table is set outdoors. This way, it is easy for parents to keep an eye on their offspring while they go swinging on the farm labourers’ swing hill. The tavern can accommodate about one hundred persons, and thus, even a decent folk wedding with numerous guests can be held here.

After eating one’s fill, one can go and see how farm labourers lived and what jobs they had to do in order to keep themselves alive. All kinds of hung up and laid about tools can be examined closely and some of them can even be used to accomplish a task or two – if strength and wits permit.
