Although I'm a yuma (gringa), my ex-husband was Cuban, and I learned to cook from my then mother-in-law. So I'm pretty picky about my Cuban food. You'll read all kinds of reviews about the fritas at El Mago, but my favorite sandwich is a "pan con bistec." My first bite--and last--was pure heaven. I don't know what the marinade was,... More

Not the largest place, especially when a group of 14 walk in. But, they did some amazing work and were able to accommodate us during a lunch rush. Greatly appreciated!! They recommended items. Spoiled our birthday celebrant. Great atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Behold the unadorned restaurant, located in a strip mall on historic Calle Ocho, where flavour reigns supreme. The star of the menu is the frita, a Cuban-style hamburger of ground beef and chorizo, spiced with pepper, cumin, and paprika, and garnished with fried onions and lovely matchstick potatoes. We’ve enjoyed the thing plain and topped with a fried egg, which... More

If you are near- you have got to go here! We had the nicest, goodest, fun lunch. The owners are super friendly. The Fritas are incredible. Doble la Cabano is superb. Steak Frita awesome. They have a special sauce that's incredible and definitely have desert flan. It is a little hole in the wall place with rich history. Don't go... More

Im Cuban and have resided in Miami for the last 19 years. I was out and about today and decided to have a "frita", cuban hamburger. El Mago de la frita was on my way so I decided to try it since my favorite, "El Rey de la frita" wasn't as convenient at the moment. I was happy to see... More

When visiting Miami we always make sure to have a meal at El Mago, best frita in town, never disappoints. We brought our son and family visiting from New York and they loved it! The staff is super friendly, made us feel like family!

today i visited El Mago de las Fritas, i had not been there in over 20 years. the food it is still great and El Mago looks the same from 20 years ago. it was nice to see visitors/travelers adventuring and trying different cusine. that is what Miami is about, we are a melting pot of culture and food
