One night a friend and I were studying a block away from Flaco's. You could smell the most amazing smells, so distracting we had to get a Ropa Vieja before we could continue studying. It may not be fancy, but the food is great.

I wanted to order what i usually order from this restaurant 2 to 3 times a week. However, Daniel said "we are not serving ni**ers today. I have the right to refuse you service."

The food was excellent. Our party sampled arepas, burritos, rice and beans and salads. All were excellent quality, taste and well priced. Simple place with bench seating and cool artwork on the walls. Don't be put off by the outside as it doesn't look like much, but well worth the stop in.

Flaco's is an excellent little Cuban bakery/eatery. The pastelito de queso is as good as you'll find anywhere. The Cuban Gator sandwich is a unique experience. Growing up in Miami, I've enjoyed dozens if not hundreds of Cuban sandwiches. Never in my life have I seen a Cuban sandwich sub out the ham for ropa vieja. Sounds ridiculous and almost... More

Wow, best Cuban sandwich I've had. Cute place. Great value. I added the spicy mayo to my sandwich and loved it. Authentic Cuban pork cooking and preparation. They make the bread and all sauces on site. I look forward to returning.

Quick, cheap, surprisingly good, hole in the wall, street food with friendly service. Limited menu. They don't fry anything there. Everything has to be baked heated or is in heated containers. Well suited for the university crowd. If you are looking for more of a sit down restaurant with more "ambiance" and a more varied menu, you might look elsewhere... More

Who could resist a Cuban place called Flacos Tacos? Also a Cuban bakery and restaurant. This is a very casual - rustic - place in downtown G'Ville's student nightlife area. We ordered the Cuban - which was advertised as the best in the area. I am not an expert on Cubans, but this was disappointing with shaved rather than sliced... More

I mostly get a colada here, and maybe an empanada, but it is good, like down in Miami. If you are used to places like this in South Florida, you will appreciate this place. I heard the Cuban sandwiches are good, and the late night Tacos are popular with the tipsy student crowd. It get crowded and takes a while... More

Delicious cuban cuisine, reasonably priced and has two locations in Gainesville. The bowls are great with a choice of meat, rice, beans and fried plantains. Always a favorite. Don't forget a guava pastry for dessert!

I got the Cuban which consisted of turkey, shredded pork, Swiss cheese, pickles, and your choice of lettuce. The food was hot and fresh. The bread was awesome! The staff are super friendly. Parking is located behind the building. I would definitely recommend this place to people who want to try some great Cuban food.
