What a great building with loads of history and a very cheerful staff. Unfortunately I can't recommend this establishment for its food or service. One could have a beautiful place, with a beautiful view, with a very cheerful staff, but with only average service and poor food at greater than average pricing, you will likely be disappointed. I'm not in... More

Food was average, the grilled shrimp was pretty good. Lots of mosquitos, killed 3 in the first 5 min there. It's a nice atmosphere and fun to sit on the water, but if you want great food and no mosquitos I wouldn't recommend coming.

One can't visit Everglades City without dropping in to the historic Rod and Gun Club but do yourself a favour: skip the meal and just have the dessert. It was truly the worst meal I've eaten during my 5 weeks in Florida and the service was deplorable. I'd suggest dropping in for a drink because the bar has a wonderful... More

We are Canadians and rarely complain, but feel in this case it is well earned. We ate here about 3 years ago and it was okay. Now it is awful! Want to ruin a once great place here is the program. 1. Serve food made from the cheapest ingredients you can find! I had the Grouper special that sounded wonderful... More

Great location, next to the river, with a varied menu including many local dishes/ingredients and something for everyone. The service was a little 'intense' and the locations remoteness was the excuse for not taking plastic when the bill came. Definitely worth a visit, just make sure you have cash or your check-book.

If you are looking for a unique place to eat in Everglades City, look no further than the Everglades Rod & Gun Club Lodge & Restaurant. Dating back to 1864 and hosting over 5 U.S. Presidents as well as multiple celebrities, the Everglades Rod & Gun Club lodge/restaurant gives you an instant nostalgic feeling of being back in "Old Florida"... Beautiful place to visit while in everglades city. A lot of history, photos, storytelling and game mounts on the walls. The hotel is unable to book but the villa is available and the restaurant and bar isn't open some time. Worth time to check it out !

Many rooms to eat in ; nice shop to secure unique hot sauces. Cool as you can eat on a veranda over water. Imagine the celebrities and even 5 presidents who frequented this sports establishment. Lots of antiques and paneling.

My family and myself had an amazing experience at the rod n gun club, the building was breath taking and the staff was very attentive and friendly our waitress kept us and our 2 young children ( ages 3 and 5 and very cranky from being in the hot Florida sun all day ) with smiles on our faces throughout... Dark and gloomy museum but rich in history. Presidents and celebrities have stayed there. Lots of artifacts and newspaper cuttings etc.
