Lovely option for showing a guest the best of Destin

This is a lovely restaurant with beautiful bay views, great atmosphere, and good food. Wait staff was very attentive. Prices are a bit steep. I enjoyed a great salad with fresh fruit, candied pecans, and a wonderful assortment of salad greens. It was topped off with 6 plump, perfectly grilled shrimp. The cost for just this salad and shrimp was $33.00. While I would not patronize this restaurant on a daily basis because of the cost, it is a great option for taking a guest or an occasional, relaxing splurge.

If you’re coming to Boshamps you’re coming to hang out and eat oysters and enjoy the atmosphere. We arrived with a wait time of 3 hours, they had us seated in 2 hours flat. We spent our wait time hanging out by the bar listening to music and loving the view. We always go to Boshamps when family comes to visit, we always know to expect a long wait time especially during weekends in the busy time. But the long wait time is all part of the experience. Our server Chelsea had the best timing I’ve ever experienced. Every time we were getting close to wanting something else she was already there. Her ability to anticipate needs was next level impressive. The food and their oysters are consistently top tier. The drinks are always perfect. Boshamps is the place to be, just know that you're there for both a good time and a long time and the wait time is half the fun, don’t let it deter you from stopping in for dinner.

Make the time for Boschamps!

First let me preface my review by saying, the first time we attempted to dine at Boschamps was with a group of two other couples. The wait would have been 2 hours or more. We did not stay. This time however, it was just my husband and I, and we knew ahead of time the wait would most likely be long. We were up for it, and genuinely wanted to experience the dining at this restaurant. Upon arrival we asked to get on the list and was told the wait for 2 would be about 2 hours & 15 mins. We had arrived at 7:17 pm on a Friday. We found the bar at the back and got drinks to start out wait. The back area at the harbor is so nice with a sandy area and seating. At around 8:45 I think it was we got the call for our table. We were two drinks in and ordered one more round with our dining meal. Yes the drinks are that good! Get the daiquiris for sure, and add a floater. The dishes we ordered were phenomenal!!! The atmosphere was amazing - we sat outside on the deck and enjoyed every second! Boschamps is not a place that you go to for fast or cheap. But if you are looking for something quality, dining at its best and the most delicious drinks and food, then I cannot recommend them enough. My husband and I enjoyed everything about our experience and would definitely go back again for another special occasion.

Long wait times

We’ve been here many times over the years. Arrived at 5:45 and told 2.5 hour wait. Since just two of us we grabbed a seat at the bar. The atmosphere is great as the place sits along the water. I do believe those wait times are created on purpose to drive people to the onsite bars for a drink or two. When a table empties it is not filled with another party for 20-30 minutes. The prices of the specialty meals are $49. This used to be our favorite place to visit but with the wait times and over priced menu, plenty of other great dining options to take advantage of the next time in the area.

Amazing atmosphere with even better food

The food is absolutely amazing!!!!! Fresh off the docks snapper is so good, everyone in our party of 15 loved it and their other dishes. I give them 5 stars but my only critique would be I wish they had a better waitlist system because the wait tends to be 2 plus hours and you have to be there the whole time. Would be nice if you could sign up virtually then they tell you when to go to the restaurant (maybe 20-30 minutes before projected time)

Poor quality and extremely over priced

A 2-rating was given only because the service was good; the food not so much. Boshamps quality has certainly fallen off since the last time my wife and have eaten here. I suspect the 4 and 5 ratings I see online are from folks that rarely eat, or know, good seafood. Our recent visit (Saturday, 2/18) was a huge disappointment. My wife had the fried oyster flavored corn meal (aka fried oyster basket). The "oysters" were missing in action! It appeared the line cook shredded them prior to applying way too much batter resulting in fried clumps of corn meal with pieces of oyster sparsely mixed in. Several of the corn meal clumps lacked any oyster at all. I had the blackened grouper sandwich. Trying to cut down on the carbs I ordered it without the bun. In retrospect I should have ordered the sandwich with the bun as the piece of fish was unbelievably small, but the cook did a good job of camouflaging it with a slice of tomato nearly twice the size of the fish! The collards and mixed steamed veggies were good, but we didn’t go to Boshamps for veggies. The wine was the highlight of the meal (the cook couldn’t screw up that one!). Needless to say we not only wasted $102 on a meal that lacked the quality expected for lunch at that price, but we also wasted our time waiting for a table. I’ll stick with our quality Florida east coast seafood found throughout Jacksonville, and the next time we’re in Destin I’ll just settle for Captain D’s.

The best fried shrimp we’ve had this trip

The fried shrimp was amazing. The snapper with linguine was also delicious. There is a long wait time because it’s a popular place. We waited about two hours for a table on a weeknight at dinner time. While we waited, we went out back and listened to the live band and played cornhole on the beach. It’s really a cool place. Cost is a bit higher than other places we’ve been on this trip -about $250 for 4 adults and 3 cocktails- but I will also say it’s the best meal we’ve had.

It's Worth the Wait

Let's start with we had a two-hour wait! Because it's just that good. However, it was worth the wait. Don't be discouraged because they have bar seating inside and out and they have four bars upstairs and down. Enough of that, let's give it up for the chef. When I say the food is excellent and one of the best restaurants I've been to in 2024. We started with Oysters Rockefeller followed by a 20 oz ribeye (caramelize onions) over a bed of mashed potatoes & collard greens. And the red snapper topped with lump crab and shrimp also with mash in collards. The Southern girl in me leaped for joy. We ended the night with a buttermilk pie that tasted like a custard with homemade pecan ice cream. I was in heaven. Our waiter James was awesome he was very knowledgeable and explain all the flavors I was tasting and very enthusiastic about his job. And the rest of staff rocks... not an idle soul inside the place. From bussing tables, up and down the stairs with trays of food ...all with smile on the face. Oh, and free valet... when we left our car was waiting for us up front because the waiter had already given them our valet ticket. Whenever I'm in Destin...I'm 🏃🏾‍♀️ to this restaurant.

First class!!

Okay, so I am an English woman who is a foodie. Let me tell you, I am smitten. The plate was warm, the barmaids friendly and informative the main course of grouper I salivated over and the makers mark ice cream to die for and I don’t eat dessert !!! I have to go back !!!

One of the best Destin has to offer

Yes it is a "tourist trap" but it is not just due to location, it is one of the best local upscale seafood places on the Emerald Coast. Thye have the usual suspects, fried shrimp, etc, but also have some more unique dishes that never disappoint. Located on the harbor in Destin it has a nice view of the harbor, boats tied up, etc. It can get frenetic during the season and wait times can be crazy (which is why we locals go off season). Fried crab claws, one of my fav appetizers, always on the menu and are great. The breading is very well seasoned and the claws cooked just right. Good selection of oyster options (I hate oysters...), the seafood gumbo is very good, of course the fried shrimp are good, snapper Destin is a treat. Highly recommend. No reservations, which is pretty standard in Destin.

Wonderful experience

We ate here on New Years Day and had a fantastic meal for lunch. The feta dip was incredible! I got the Boshamp's basket with fried oysters and my husband got his with the fried fish. We enjoyed them both. Service was also top notch. We will definitely be returning next visit! We got here when they opened as we had a flight to catch that afternoon and there was already a line forming, so I would definitely recommend getting there early.

Don’t waste your money

At 40-50$ a plate, I expected the food to be pretty decent. But it was truly subpar. I’m shocked this place is rated highly because of the service was truly abysmal. We needed to ask for water refills, the waitress was confused when we asked for a daiquiri. Another drink was ordered but never delivered. The young man who delivered our food showed such little interest in what he was doing. He basically threw food at the end of the table and that person handed the plates to the correct people. We made it easy for her and had one check between two families. I don’t know if she judged us as bad tippers and didn’t give us the time of day, or if the restaurant was short staffed (shame on them. 40-50$ plate restaurants should make service important), or etc. But honestly, as a patron, should I have to spend 300$ and then make excuses for the restaurant? We won’t be dining here again.

Boshamps is one of our 4 favorite restaurants in Destin Florida. February is off-season so wait times are short, but spring break and summer can have 3-hour wait times or worse, they cut off the line. My favorite is pan roasted gulf grouper, and my husband’s is “the original” snapper Destin.

Food Solid….Cost..NO WAY

I have consistently rated this place in my top 5 in the area. I started to pull back on my thoughts last year. This year just confirms it. 3 of us got Original Destin Snapper, 1 got the Pan Sautéed Gulf Snapper and 1 the Chicken. Mac and Cheese is great! Food is pretty solid but when most of your plate is made up of collard greens and mash potatoes while having small portion of actual fish and crab meat. NO WAY…NO WAY is that a $49 plate of food… NO WAY.. $11 Virgin Pina Coladas. We know to get there early and did. 45 minute wait on table and hour wait on food… People come here dressed like it’s a high end restaurant… I am a review buff and value every review I read which is way too many. Please just evaluate before going here. Server sits right over top of you as you give tip. I’ve always said if I’m blessed enough to afford a meal then I will tip well. But when you run the price up on food then your tip is not consistent with service provided. I get the whole supply and demand of it all. Not saying the food is bad but as an overall cost for a meal… NO WAY!

Food quality has gone down.

Out friends and family has been going. to Boshamps for over 15 years it’s sad to say the quality of the french fries has fallen they are tasteless. Horrible fries. Boshamps used to have the best fries in town. We had fried shrimp, french fries and coleslaw and the french fries were horrible. It ruined the mail sad to say.
