We were in search of all things "Non Mickey" on an Old Florida excursion. If a place looked funky and non-mainstream, we stopped. The Blue Desert did not disappoint! We loved the small, SW flavored , beach atmosphere. We liked that the food was not fried seafood platter choices but pasta driven with eclectic Italian spin. Not fast food so... More

It should have been a clue when we walked in at 7:00 on a Friday night, and the place was completely empty, NO CUSTOMERS.. However, the atmosphere was very nice so we decided to give it a try. The waitress came to our table, and took our drink order, and explained that they only had 1 cook, so we should... More

This could have been a nice experience. We were the only people there...the wait wasn't horrible, the ladies were nice. The food, however... For the price? It was atrocious and ridiculous!! A burrito is not a hard thing to make folks! We won't go back. And this will get posted to my Cedar Key resturaunts blog. This is a limited... More

Each year when we visit we always make sure to dine at Blue Desert Cafe for at least one meal. This visit was stopped for dinner. The food as always was delicious and made to order. The waitress was friendly. We love the artsy interior. It just feels so welcoming. The owner is looking to retire and has the place... More

We found this restaurant on line and had seen it while driving on hwy 24. It is very small with vintage tables and chairs (9 total tables inside). Lots of things to look at on walls, ceiling and tables. They have containers with Trivial Pursuit game cards to pass the time. Food is great. It is prepared to order so... More

Very nice dinner at this small cozy restaurant within walking distance of the RV park where we were staying. All dishes are prepared to order so you won't want to go if you are in a hurry. Very nice staff and food worth the wait. We enjoyed it very much!

I had decided t try The Blue Desert this afternoon and when I went in I wanted their Seafood Special but I explained that I really like "Fra Diavalo" and could the chef spice up the Seafood Special with marinara. The answer was that they could, and it was excellent! Mussels, clams, scallops, shrimp and calamari in a perfect sauce.... More

Our first choice for our New Year's Eve dinner was unfortunately not yet rebuilt for Hurricane Hermine so we searched for another venue, happens to be across the street from where we are staying. The Blue Dessert Cafe is a quaint and interesting restaurant decorated with curiosities collected from at least 21 years of collecting. The menu offers selections of... More

Small 8 table, one chef/one waiter, located between St Rte 24 and the bayou in a very eclectic blue cracker cottage. The Blue Deserts' (BD) cooking maven, Terese, offers so many menu selections that all but the burger/fries diner will come away happy and pleased that you stopped. It's the food foremost that keeps us dedicated BD'ers. But, there is no... More

It takes time to cook good food as a reviewer wrote. Yes it does that is why you prep ingredients before you open. Then when you get an order you cook it...a novel concept I know for the restaurant business.A steak well done might hold things up 20 minutes to ruin it. A pizza made from scratch here could take...
