We just love this place! No matter when you go, you are going to have a great time. Beautiful in the spring through fall outdoors. So cozy inside in the winter. Food is very tasty. We have always been treated well by the waitstaff. Oysters are delightful. They have gluten free available whenever necessary. Always FRESH!

We had heard about the turkey dinner that the GW serves on Monday nights, and was so thrilled when we arrived. The servers were all so friendly and warm. They served us outside at 6 p.m and their terrace. We overlooked a stream and ordered our turkey dinners. It was complete with stuffing, mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce. The desserts... More

A lovely late lunch with five of my girlfriends! Super glad we booked ahead though, as the place was super busy and there was a line-up to get tables... Food was above average, though not superb (my garden burger was burnt, and I was surprised to see string fries v steak/home-cut fries at a place like this). Service was super... More

They were out of Kobe Beef and offered to substitute the regular (grass fed) beef and serve it with the kobe beef toppings. I ordered it rare rare -- it was medium -- and did not come with the Kobe beef toppings. It was lunch, we were having fun, why ruin it with a discussion/debate with the wait staff. Fries... More

A very interesting inn with a varied menu and unique ambiance. I had a prime rib sandwich with a sweet relish while our guest has a most interesting pumpkin curry soup. A great view of the brook below provided a great scenery. Service tended to run a bit slow but the lunch was very enjoyable.

My wife and I dined at GW Tavern last night, and it was thoroughly enjoyable. We'd been told by friends that it was terrific, and they were right! We were there every early, so it was rather quiet throughout most of our meal. There are several dining rooms, and we seated in a large room with vaulted ceilings and lots... More

GW's is very popular with the local population for lunch and dinner. It's a great place to take your family or to meet and talk with friends over a meal. There are several spaces to choose from: the friendly bar and taproom with a fireplace; the backroom overlooking the Shepaug River; and in the summer, a deck and a patio... More

We've been coming here for 20 years and it's still a special spot. The colonial style is pure New England and a table by the window overlooking the river is wonderful. The menu has been changed a bit and they have some great sounding vegetarian/vegan dishes for those who so desire, like my daughter. This time I had the fried... More
