I'm going to kick myself here as getting a table here for Sunday lunch isn't easy. So getting a table now may be even more difficult. I can say that Sunday lunch here is fantastic, great service, great food and reasonable prices what isn't there...More

An unexpected pleasure to be directed to this village pub with an interesting and varied menu. I opted for good old scampi and chips, simply as I hadn’t had this dish for years, and it was very nicely done. Other members of the party sampled...More

Traditional, how pubs used to be. Restaurant is not huge and there is still a decent size bar area which makes a pleasant change, most pubs these days seem to turn it all over to eating area. Sunday lunch was one of the best I'd...More

Met with friends from outside the area and had booked a meal. The venue is easy to find, plenty of parking and lovely environment. The service was excellent and the food was delicious and freshly prepared. Will definitely be returning to this little gem.

The picturesque village of Car Colston has 29 acres of village greens and is believed to be the largest rural common in England. The building of The Royal Oak is about two hundred years old and is thought by some to have been a hosiery factory hence the rather unusual vaulted brick ceiling in the bar which certainly would have carried the weight of the appropriate textiles machinery above.Richard & Vicky are members of the British Institute of Innkeeping. With Vicky offering her delicious culinary delights from the kitchen & Richard behind the bar with his fantastic tasting Cask Marque approved traditional real ales you are sure of a warm welcome and enjoyable experience but look out for the reported ghost of a Roman Centurion roaming the building.
