Limited on street parking, descent service in a very old establishment. That said, the 1947 scamorza pizza is by far the best pizza around. You don't stay open for 70 years just on luck. Please try Salernos once in your life. I promise you won't be disappointed in the food. Scamotz!!!

Thank you for your generous opinion. We strive to prepare most of our meals from scratch, just like my grandparents. More

Having lunch at Salerno's we felt very nostalgic. My husband was raised near the Greek side of his family and I was raised near the Sicilian side of my family and a lot of or childhood memories are similar, so while we sat in this restaurant it was like stepping back in time. From the tin ceiling tiles to the... More

Once again we ordered a bunch of pies, salad and meatballs for a family get-together. And once again we were not disappointed. Salerno's has been around forever and I guess there's a reason for that. Their pizza is consistently good.

Thank you. 70 years strong. Yes, we take pride in preparing our meals as close to the meals our family prepared at home. Simple, abundant and reasonably priced. More

Top notch, food was excellent. Employees very friendly. Antipasto salad (is enough for 3 people with no problem. Only problem is there is only street parking which can be a problem. Pasta and sauces we had were superb. Would recommend this place to everyone.

Thank you for your critique. Yes, street parking only. The bright side is it doesn't seem to bother our business. More

We were in the area and decided to give this place a try. Friendly and prompt service. We didn't care for the pizza, we are just not fans of the darker crust. Plus they put huge chucks of pineapple on it and that made it hard to eat. The side salad was impressive and very good.

Thank you for your review. I will share it with my staff. In the future, should you come in again, please request how you want your pizza baked... e.g. "Light Baked, well done, etc. we will also advise the bakers to chop the pineapples smaller... Thanks again. More

Salerno's is somewhere we go periodically, either for a pizza or a pasta entree. It has never disappointed in either category. This time one of us had a white pizza with spinach and meatball, the other spaghetti and meat sauce, a half portion, and we shared a house salad. The pizza had way too much spinach, but otherwise was great;... More

I'm an outlier. I think the tomato pie is average. Love most of the others though so I'm a big fan. It's a time machine type of joint. See for yourself!

Description
Established in 1947Salerno's first opened it's doors in May, 1947 in the Southend of Bridgeport. The war was over and the G.I.s brought back a taste for pizza. Billy and Tina worked hard to get their little place going. In 1954, the pizzeria was moved to the East End of Bridgeport and renamed The C&C Pizzeria. There, the business flourished and it was decided to introduce our family's recipes along with the pizza and grinders. An opportunity opened in 1970 to open a pizzeria in the Cutrufello Building in Stratford, CT. The family decided to rename the pizzeria. Salerno's Apizza has been in the same location ever since. Today, Salerno's in Stratford serves not only the original pizza it first served in 1947....but, a selection of homemade (from scratch) pastas and sauces, specialty dishes and offers a dining room seating 70. The decor is retro 1940s and the music is Doo-Wop. Salerno's also accepts phone- in orders for pick-up. All of our recipes are available as catering trays. Bring the family!
