you stand on a usually pretty healthy line, awaiting the opportunity to place your order from a menu full of choices so great, you can barely narrow it down to just a few. the bucolic fields surround you, and cows graze nearby. the smell of the fields..... becomes almost a pavlovian trigger to make you want some of the world's... Ferries Creamery was recommended to me last week. It's known for its home made I e Cream, especially its "Home Style" favorites. Be prepared to stand in line for at least 40 minutes (in the rain); but, it's d finitely worth the wait. As my subject line denotes: you gotta try Campfire, which I had in a store made waffle... I'm a former soda jerk, so I like to think I know a thing or two about ice cream. Ferris Acres has the best ice cream I've ever tried. It's a charming little place, set on a farm, surrounded by fields. You can see the cows the milk came from while you enjoy your ice cream!

This is the best ice cream in Connecticut. No doubt. I live 45 minutes away and we drive here after dinner frequently for ice cream. Located on a farm. Tons of unique varieties and selections. Caters to dogs also. We take our black lab and get him the pup cup. Worth the visit from anywhere in Connecticut

If you go during busy times, be prepared to wait at this popular place. They do have one of the best systems for moving the line. Much faster here than at Rich Farm in Oxford. It was just over $10 for 2 cones and a root beer float, which is less expensive than many ice cream places. There's a huge... More

You may be tempted to turn around and leave if you pull up and see a line snaking around the building, but don't! If you have the time, the Creamery ice cream is well worth the wait. Great quality made on premises ice cream in lots of unique flavors and friendly and efficient staff (mostly local students) keep me going... More

My parents offhandedly mentioned this dairy one summer day while we were up visiting, and being ice cream aficionados (perhaps, as my waistline suggests, too fondly) we headed over there. I don't know why they hadn't offered up the advice to visit Ferris Acres before they did, and I will remind them of this critical failure in communication forever. Because... More
