This is the ultimate roadside stand for the best hamburgers ever. You can get all sorts of toppings; sauted onions are very good. They also serve hotdogs, great french fries, and fried onions, and ice cream sandwiches and other cold treats. They don't advertise, have no phone or restroom - just great food. They are open from the end of... More

This is a one of a kind very short seasonal roadside hamburger joint run b the same New Preston/New Milford family for many generations. Very short lunch and dinner timing windows. Slow down heading north on CT Route 202 approaching New Preston, if you blink, you will miss it on the right (unless the parking lot and all the outside... More

I've been going to Clamps for over 40 years. It never disappoints! Really not too much you can say about a hamburger stand other than in the case of Clamps, the fact that it has been in business for decades and decades out to serve as a testament to the fact that in a world where fast food restaurants come... Almost drove right by-If it was a BK or MacD's I would have-but stopped in for a burger and an order of clam strips. The burger was tasty and the clams were better than most diner fare-so for a cute little side of the road place that's that's good. Wish there were more of these kind of places around. Informal... I am surprised that so few have rated this local legend - but then again, it has only ever been open several months a year. This is the essence of summer in Litchfield County. Best little burger shack on the road side. A cheeseburger with onions will simply melt in your mouth and their onion rings are exceptional. Finish it... More

We have been going to Clamps for years and actually our daughter worked here one summer. You can't beat the burgers and fry here. It is only outdoor seating on lawn-type chairs and wooden tables. the are open for lunch and dinner but closed in between. It is a very small place and there is often a line. Only open... More

I can picture rolling up to this place in a Model T back in 1945. I think it has been open that long. Good burgers and dogs and superlative onion rings with outdoor seating around antique wire spools amidst the gardens in Litchfield County Connecticut. This place has stood the test of time and you can tell why. Quality food... More

Ahhh what can you say that hasn't already been said. I remember going here in the 1950's. Mrs Clamp would put all the condiments on for you. It probably tasted so good because she salted it pretty heavy. Now you put your own condiments on, but that is about all that has changed. Take a step back in time, but... More

Clamps is an old time roadside stand on the way to or from New Milford. For lack of any way of describing it, it's a small stand with some tables. For many, many years, it was famous for having Birch Beer. It was also a stop for out of town New Yorkers (Weekenders). For over 30 years, I have gone... More
