Good coffee, lovely spot. The food was less than mediocre, no soul, total lack of creativity. Old mushy pieces of fruit for garnish, IK . Crabby host, nice wait person. Don't bother, too bad.

We had a delightful experience dining on Abby's deck. The wait staff was most attentive and our salads with lobster and crab additions were good choices. Essex is an historic town and well worth exploring. The Red Balloon is a great shop for children's clothes and the Essex steam train just outside of town is a fun experience for families.... More

Came here for lunch based on previous reviews. Service extremely slow and waitstaff inattentive. Waited 45 min for food when restaurant was half empty. People beside us left before eating after waiting almost an hour for food. Food was ok though my children's fruit had little flies on it. Once food was served, waitress didn't come back for 20 min.... More

We were meeting family here, a party of 12. We had our puppy with us, and Abby told us there was a city ordinance prohibiting dogs from being on the patio. But no worries here. She invited us to leave the dog on the front porch and assured us that she and the staff would tend to her while we... More

The only place in Essex where you can sit outside overlooking the water and dine. Menu is fairly limited but preparation is very good. Last time there I had the lobster Mac and Cheese (excellent!). Good salads, salmon, and such. Full bar but you may have to instruct the wait staff on drink preparation. Very nice people. Recommend for outside... More

We were at Abby's for dinner just this past Friday evening with a couple of locals. Those locals chose this restaurant for us knowing that we know good fare. The service was terrific, the setting was sweet (lovely view and nice breeze). I had been thinking 'fresh fish' till I started perusing the menu, then the Lobster Roll practically jumped... More

This is a great spot for casual lunches but I have found it quite enough for business lunches as well. My waitress could not have been more attentive despite how busy it got towards the end of our meal. The clam chowder was great and my wife seemed to enjoy her Reuben, the food was slow to come out but... More

Quaint restaurant right on the water. The food was pricey, but excellent. Our servers were not friendly and were always rushing about, passing our table several times with out checking in to see if we needed anything. Our food took quite some time to come out, but everything was as ordered and again, excellent.

Thank Gabrielle E

Casual waterfront dining located in the Brewer's Dauntless Shipyard. A bit hard to find but defintely worth the effort. Abby's Place serves American cuisine with a flair, specializing in fresh, locally sourced meats and seafood.
