I always enjoy the schnitzel but this time several of us tried their specials. I had the duck and it was great. Others had the lamb chops and said they hadn't had lamb that tasted so good in a long time. The desert that got raves was the apple strudel..excellent.

We fined early, and found hust one other table occupied, but unfortunately the nearby table for two was SO noisy , we could hardly hear one another. Meal arrived after twenty min and was not very hot. Difficult to cut pork shanks with cutlery provided, meat dry which means it was warmed in microwave . Portions enormous so we shared... More

Craving German food in CT? Look no further that the Old Heidelberg in Bethel, CT. The building is a quaint cottage that looks as though it was picked up from Germany and placed here. The inside of the building is small, but when full on a Friday night it isn't overcrowded. It also features a large beer garden outside in... More

Authentic German Cuisine served in a traditional atmosphere. Small dining area inside but large beer garden during the season. Amazing German recipes cooked to perfection. If you are in a rush, don't come here. In keeping with German tradition this is an experience not just a meal. Take your time, relax and enjoy the beer.

We had a difficult time finding much in the area on a Sunday afternoon, so stopped here. The menu includes all the traditional dishes, but we thought prices were pretty high. Food was good and filling.

I try to give as honest an experience as possible. Perhaps there were better or worse experiences, but this was our true experience. Went on a Sunday Night. Quaint house and setting, we were seated in an inopportune spot, directly across from a table of 8 people, and they were getting louder as they were getting hammered. We ordered some... More

I dined here with a friend very recently. I'm not too familiar with German food but my friend spoke highly of the place. I enjoyed all of my items, the tasty mushroom soup, and a sampling of three different sausages along with potatoes and sauerkraut. The place was fun with an oudoor seating area along with indoor seating. The big... More

We went for lunch but it was a very hot day so we skipped the beer garden.the restaurant in a converted house so it's very comfortable. Wide plank floors, dark wood paneling and beams, bright white walls. Sort of a formal/rustic combo with German music swirling in the air. My teenager was not sure about the menu at first so... More

We go to this restaurant whenever we feel the urge for German food, and of course for their October fest celebration. The portions are huge so you can easily take home half for the next day. I love getting a salad sampler, not on the menu, but they are happy to oblige. Their red cabbage is to die for. Their... More

My wife is German, so we were very excited to stumble across this place about 10 years ago, and as far as we have found, it's the only German restaurant in Fairfield County. Great ambiance inside, solid imported beer selection, food is pretty authentic, but recently seems to vary somewhat in quality from excellent to just OK. Unfortunately, it seems... More
