Wine is super expensive. I understand that to make a profit you must up charge by 30-40%, but $10 for a glass of wine? The bottle at the local liquor store was $15...prices on tea/coffee are a bit pricey, example: more expensive for a larger cup of tea...AKA more water. Good atmosphere but I skip going here.

It's a nice place to have coffee and a good place to have a light breakfast or afternoon treat. The staff is friendly and cheery and there is ample selection of sweet and savory to enjoy in their charming atmosphere or take away.

My husband and I started or days several days in a row with coffee beverages from Higher Ground. He got a coffee the first time, but I converted him to a mocha for ensuing days. Excellent beverages in friendly atmosphere. We got our beverages to go, but I feel it's the place one could spend a couple hours with friends... More

Was a perfect morning, coffee and great baked goods. Just what we were looking for in town. Grabbed several items to go and take with us on our road trip so we would have food on our journey. It was great the next day!

I stopped in for coffee during my stay in Pagosa and was very happy to hear they can make their drink choices with almond milk. I really appreciated that. The barista took time with me to go over various drinks and I ended up with, I think, the salted caramel mocha or maybe just a salted caramel. I had them... More

We stopped by because it looked quaint. We each had a fruit smoothie and drank it on the front sidewalk at a table for two. The staff was nice and friendly . They are dog friendly. There was 2 dogs that were waiting for their treat outside .

Great coffee, however, sometimes you will have to wait for order, if someone they know walks in after you and orders. Then they may just prepare their order before yours. Kinda frustrating. I've been going there for 6 weeks, everyday and more than once I see them set my cup aside and make the the person behind me their coffee... More

It appears that Higher Grounds has changed ownership since we were there last vacation, but the latte was good and service friendly as ever.

This comfortable coffee house is frequented by locals and visitors. There is a wide variety of sandwiches, coffees, and teas. Also available are crafts and beautiful cards.

As the town's longest running coffee house, Higher Grounds was established in 2004 with the goal of bringing the country's then-emerging craft coffee scene to the quaint mountain community of Pagosa Springs. Exclusively serving organic fair trade coffee, fresh in-house baked goods, and a curated selection of local beers & spirits, we continually strive to be THE destination for both locals and visitors.
