Not my favorite but good to go with business partners to enjoy special dishes one is not eating anywhere else. Great spicy steak, but do not go for the habanero one, the normal spicy is already more than hot. Good beer offer and a separate wine list.

The fort has food types and food combinations you don't ordinarily find in a restaurant and they pull it off really well. The setting of the restaurant is very cool and the service is always great. I recommend it highly!

Serves wild/exotic game. I had quail, elk and bison. Beef steak is better than bison but the bison tasted good and was not tough. The quail was good but not as moist as I'd like. The Elk was fantastic and perfectly cooked. A mountain man wanders around the restaurant dressed in full period costume from the early 1800s. The setting... More

This place is fabulous. We had a large group dinner and it couldn't have been better! The service was top notch and the food was high quality and well prepared. Check out the Buffalo Steak and Salmon. You wont go wrong. Interesting historical significance as well. Worth the 40 minute drive from Denver to get back to basics.

We dined at The Fort during Restaurant week. We loved it! The buffalo steak was done to perfection. The quail had a yummy teriyaki glaze. The potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft inside. The chocolate mousse for dessert was rich and complex. There is a great wine list, too. The views are lovely, too. We'll be back!

Took my wife to an outstanding dinner of Buffalo & quail. The staff were attentive, professional and dressed appropriately. The steaks were done as ordered, the food was all high quality and I have no complaints.

I am surprised at how good this restaurant is. I've heard from friends that if you like game meat, then this is the place to go in Denver...so i gave it a whirl...and I'm glad i did. The place is nice and the food is better. I love the buffalo tenderloin. It was cooked perfectly and tastes oh so good.... More

Description
Situated in the Red Rocks country 17 miles southwest of Denver on Hwy 285, The Fort is a true replica of Bent's Fort, the first American community west of the Missississippi & rendezvous of Kit Carson & other "Mountain Men". The nine dining rooms, seating 350, are white plastered over adobe. Unusual but hearty dishes, typical of the early West, are provided from open grills. Waugh!
