We chose this place for its proximity to a concert venue and because our son-in-law had never tried Indian food. I am unhappy that this was his first experience. Upon entering I was overwhelmed by a musty odor. It had to be the carpet and dated decor. The menu had a reasonable number of choices and the service was fine.... More

I have to say that of all the groups of cultural cuisine out there Indian food is probably the one I have the least exposure to. Even so, I feel that this restaurant isn't the best you can do in the area in this category. The atmosphere is a little tacky, but generally pleasant. The food lacks flavor, but is... More

It wasn't my favorite, but the service was great, and they were very attentive to my need for gluten free foods.

Brought by friend while visiting Ft. Collins and had good meal of chicken ticca (chicken was strangely in perfect cubes) of two different spice levels (so-so), butter naan and saag paneer which was tasty. Beer was cold and service very attentive probably because my friend eats here a lot.

This is one of our favorite Indian restaurants. We have been going here for 16 years. The food is very typical indian food. You can get it spiced to whatever level you want. The servers are great and they can help first timers pick a good meal to try. If you are a vegetarian this is the place for you.... More

I love their lunch buffet. The food always tastes fresh and there is a good variety. I like to add on a chai and plenty of naan and I'm good to go!

I was hoping to find a good indian place in fort collins, but this is not it. The food was bland and far from the delicious indian dishes I have had a numerous other restauratns. I have never been to an indian restaurant I did not like, until now. The service was horrible as well. They were rude and basically... More

Won't return. Flavors? Curry was bland. Saag was okay. Was told it was one of the best Indian eatery's. Will try another one in the future, but won't go back.

I don't recommend visiting India if you do not have to, (and if you do stick to veg!) but I have and the food here is on point. Chicken tikka, any biryani, saag paneer. GARLIC NAAN PEOPLE best there is.

Three of us went to the Taj during Great Plates restaurant two weeks. We were seated immediately when we arrived at 6. There were two or three other occupied tables. By the time we left about 8 or 8:30, the place was full with people waiting at the door to be seated and this was a Monday night! We ordered... More

Story behind taj mahal: in 1986, balwinder singh left his native india to start a new life in united states. Settling in colorado, he took up residence in boulder and began working at the royal peacock indian restaurant. He has been a fixture at several boulder and denver indian restaurants since then and in may 1996 decided to try his hand at restaurant ownership. So began taj mahal at 148 w. Oak st. In downtown fort collins. Fort collins was chosen over colorado springs and denver because balwinder felt that fort collins, with its diversified-based population and fairly quiet restaurant scene, would be best market for his culinary offerings.
