Oysters were great. All the food was well prepared and tasty! My only disappointment was the beignets. I've been to Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans and that is the only way to make them. The other disappointment is that they are only open 3 days a week. We would have come back.

Thank you for dining with us. I'm glad we did a good job for you. So far as our beignets go--well, not sure what to say there other than, thank you for the feedback. And when you next have a chance, give the bread pudding with whiskey sauce a try. It has a great reputation, and we're pretty proud of... More

Love seafood and never mind spending good money for good food! We went to this place for my birthday, since I love oysters and seafood. I came prepared to eat lots and get stuffed. - The fried alligator was tough and flavorless (much better at Bass Pro Shops) - The Crab in the Cajun Cobb Salad was nasty, gray in... More

Goodness, it doesn't sound like we did our best for you. For that, we absolutely apologize and appreciate your feedback. I'm not sure exactly how things got sideways in the kitchen, but funny crab should have been caught and not served. Here are a few notes on our food (for you or anyone else interested): All of our crabs and... More

What a great place to have dinner! The atmosphere is unique and really quite pleasant. The food is consistently delicious! If you find yourself dining alone, steer clear of the bar unless you like to be treated like a lower class citizen. There is no higher or mightier than Shawn, and he'll treat you like it. Everybody else working here... More

Thank you for the kind words Russell. We're really glad you enjoy coming to the Roadhouse. So far as our bartender, Shawn goes, he really works hard. However, your thoughts are heard, and we will share them with him. ~Nick More

Finally managed to get to the Roadhouse - they're only open 3 nights a week, Wed.-Thurs.-Fri. Loved everything about the place, the ambience - very casual and upbeat, the waitstaff - always a smile and very efficient, and especially the food - Cajun influence and NOLA quality. I looked up their menu online, so knew what I was going to... More

Thank you for the awesome words, Hummingbird. Knowing what we do about hummingbirds, it shouldn't take you too long to get to everything. Well, that depends on how often you can get in. We hope to see you a lot. Thanks again. More

Fun, great food- Cajun themed but reminds me of an Austin, TX roadhouse type of environment (possibly the great blues music always playing). good oysters (fresh) and knock your socks off Bourbon pecan pie!!!

Thank you for taking the time to review us, James. We're really glad you like the atmosphere. I hear you on the Austin bit. Probably a good reference for folks from Texas, though our étouffée is pure Cajun. The oysters and crawfish--well they probably swam over to Texas from Louisiana :-) All funning aside, thanks again for the review. Glad... More

I go to the roadhouse about 15 times a year. It's my favorite place for out of town friends for a cool happy hour and oysters. The staff is friendly, the food good, drinks are strong, that's about all I need. Yes, sometimes the oysters are tiny, but they are fresh and you are also having affordable oysters in the... More

Thank you for the review San Juan Traveler. We really appreciate your taking the time to do so. We keep trying to get bigger oysters. All we can figure is that they shrink on the airplane :-) Seriously, though, the jumbos are so expensive to ship to Durango that their price ends up prohibitive. Thanks again for the kind words. I've been wanting to try the Hwy 3 Roadhouse for quite a while but up until last night couldn't make my schedule and their hours of operation align. I'm going to admit to being a little hesitant after reading all of the TripAdvisor reviews...I mean...hey, a full 25% of the reviews were less than "complimentary"... so, I've figured out that... Very nice establishment. It has the atmosphere for a good hang out. My one concern is it is pricey for what you get in food. If the quantity of food was a little more then my friends would go more often. Love the seafood, just not very much for the price.

Thank you for reviewing the Roadhouse. You are right that our small plates are small plates. That helps keep the price down for those not wanting a lot. It is tough to hold the line when the seafood has to be flown in from the coasts. Fortunately, we have been able to keep our full-size entrees at under $20. Be... More

It was super busy and we didn't have reservations, so the wait would have been very long. We were given an opportunity to eat at the bar and it was fantastic. The food was excellent and the bartender was super efficient, with enough room to sit comfortably. We typically like to sit at a table, but this experience has made... More

Never realized they were there. Great Ladies Night specials on Thursdays. Very fun and relaxing after a day at work. Indoor and outdoor seating available - much quieter than sitting curbside downtown with all the street noise!

Eat, Drink & Have Fun With Us at the Highway 3 Roadhouse & Oyster Bar The Highway 3 Roadhouse & Oyster Bar is known as a local's hangout after work on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday-the only days we're open. When you come and visit, you are sure to experience some of the best Cajun, Creole and Southern food with recipes straight from Louisiana. Buried back off Highway 3 in Durango, you have to know that you are looking for us to find us. While we are considered a local's secret, we do let outsiders in. Why would anyone go to such trouble to get here? Maybe the answer is in some of our reviews. Here's what a reviewer from Arizona posted on TripAdvisor: "Worth the wait! The food is fresh and wonderful .. service is great, and atmosphere is friendly. Only open 3 days a week, but well worth a dinner here! Oysters are fresh ( try the fried ones ! ), and blackened catfish is awesome. Just love an evening out here and the menu is always changing, so the specials are fresh and fun .. LOVE this place!" From the foregoing, you know that we have a Cajun/Creole/Southern based menu with oysters and catfish. We bet you will also like our étouffée, softshell crabs and awesome mac & cheese. Be sure to save room at the end for one of our sweets such as the bread puddin' with whisky sauce. Take a look at our menu to see everything but the specials. You can catch those on our Facebook page where they are normally posted on Wednesday mornings. We look forward to meeting you!
