Don't be fooled by the "small plates". They can be absolutely enough for dinner. Well stocked bar with top shelf brands, great service and wonderful views.

We made a reservation (5 of us) and then had to wait 30 min before we were seated, which was a bit irritating, but they were waiting to seat us at a table near the main window and we were glad once we were seated. Gorgeous view. The menu is small, but very nice with many wonderful selections. They also... More
We were headed to another restaurant only to find it had closed. We remembered seeing a sign for The Sow's Ear on 550 so we headed there. We were seated in the window area with the most spectacular view of the San Juan's. Dinner was phenomenal and dessert was the jewel in the crown.
We dined at this restaurant with friends and all enjoyed the meal. I had the salmon, which was good and cooked to the temperature I requested. Although the salad was wonderful my husband and I both found that the teaspoon of dressing was inadequate for the generously sized salad. My husband had the duck but found it a bit under... More
As a local I can tell you this is the best dining we have. The views are amazing, and the food is also amazing. I have eaten here numerous times and have NEVER been disappointed. The Chef has worked there I believe for 10 years and he knows what he is doing. Best food in DGO hands down.
Amazing views, fabulous steak and the elk was awesome. The best dessert is the chocolate chip cookies. Homemade with vanilla ice cream, baked when you order them. The service is a bit slow when they are busy, but they are awesome people. Ask for Christie and request a window seat, tell her Brent sent ya!
My wife and I dined at The Sow's Ear Restaurant on a weekday summer evening. The restaurant is located within the Silverpick development, just south of Durango Mountain (formerly Purgatory) Ski Area. When we arrived, the parking lot was nearly full and people were waiting outside, and we thought "oh,oh, should have made a reservation". But, the people were waiting... More
Great food but lemon drop was fantastic! Arugula salad had just the right combination of flavors and tasty ravioli. We share dessert of the best chocolate chip cookies and creamy vanilla ice cream. Great atmosphere too!
We got a tip from a local that you can ask for a "house" burger ($13) when seated at the bar. If you're just coming for late lunch or informal dinner- this is perfect. Thick and juicy beef on a delicious bun with fresh fries. That's what I'm talking about! It was also entertaining to watch other meals being made... More
Excellent restaurant! It must be a 5 star restaurant. The price was very reasonable in comparison to the food and service we received. We had a family reunion there with over 30 people seated. No easy task for servers! But they handled it beautifully and with much patience with the little ones. I can't wait to return to the area... More
