Delightful Ethiopian dinner tonight at an unpretentious restaurant in the old city section of Colorado Springs. The food was delicious and Mama Maya was the ultimate hostess. We can't wait to return!

We have been coming to Uchenna for many years. Delicious food and wonderful hospitality! Don't listen to any reviews that say they have slow service - those people probably normally dine at Denny's. This is a small, family owned restaurant. Everything is made fresh and...More

Love the unique food. The service can be exceptional. The owner is a trip and can be fun or whatever she's in the mood for. But I've taken my wife there on dates several times. Never had bad food or anything. It's small and quaint....More

We went to this restaurant to try something new. Were we ever glad we did. The flavours were unique, but what stood out was the wonderful hostess/owner and the unique presentation and manner of eating the food. The prices were reasonable and I would definitely...More

Unbelievably flavorful food, and fun to eat, too, since the Ethiopian food is served with a crepe - like bread that serves as your utensil. I had the seafood platter, which comes with a lentil dal. Perfect portion size. Staff is friendly, service is excellent,...More

I would have rated Uchenna higher, but the food didn't really hit my fancy. There was absolutely NOTHING wrong with the food. It just wasn't to my tastes. **Do not** shy away from Uchenna because of this review. So many people I know have said...More

Uchenna is a family business with food prepared by a very good cook (and desserts prepared by her daughter). It was wonderful to experience something different - and tasty, and fun to eat (no silverware). Delicious lamb, mopped up with Injera. And flourless chocolate "cake"...More

My brother in law married an Ethiopean, and we had traditional Injera before. We went there because we wanted some more of that stuff, and we weren't disappointed. First, the bad. The place is expensive and the portions are relatively small. However, the portions are...More

There are many restaurants serving excellent meals, but this is only one I've been to where warm hugs are freely added to the menu. Call it intentional salesmanship if you like. I call it uniquely authentic and divine.

If it's Uchenna for which you're looking, then look no further. This is my all-time favorite restaurant. There is really something special about Chef Maya.
