We have been to several Ethiopian restaurants in various U.S. cities. We normally expect a good choice of vegetarian fare, and freshness - because most of these establishments are run by actual Ethiopians. This place went a way beyond our basic expectations. Our son, who...More

My first experience with Ethiopian food. We ordered yebeg alecha (lamb), chlen tils (chicken), gomen beseaga (meat) and spicy vegetables. The food is amazing and the owner is very friendly what gives the place a very familiar atmosphere.

My wife loved this meal, because she loves Middle Eastern food. The owner, Maya, cooked everything to our liking. She was great on the service. It was a little bit hard to find in Old Colorado City, but is off Colorado Avenue on the south...More

I've never tried Ethiopian food, so I have no comparison. This food was really good. There are more vegetrian options than anything else, but there a great deal of vegan options. The lady who waited on us was extremely helpful

Ordered the combo meat and vegetable plate. Description said it came with a total of 4 items (meat, misser alecha, and 2 veggie dishes). Got it to go. Should've checked before leaving but looked like only 2/4 items when I opened it at home. For...More

We sampled many of the vegetarian dishes and everything was absolutely delicious. The owner was super friendly and very knowledgable about food allergies. For anyone that's vegan and/or gluten/wheat sensitive, this is the place for you! Bread was 100% teff, and they cooked with no...More

The restaurant was small and the decor was interesting and well done. The food was delicious, but the best of the experience was the kindness and care of Maya. Though I'm sure she has explained this a thousand times, it seemed like the first time...More

Awesome, one word review! The lamb dish (Yebeg Alecha) was incredible! I could eat that all day and not be sick of it. And my husband got the raw beef (Kitfo) because we wanted to go out of our comfort zone and oh my goodness...More

There are many restaurants serving excellent meals, but this is only one I've been to where warm hugs are freely added to the menu. Call it intentional salesmanship if you like. I call it uniquely authentic and divine.

If it's Uchenna for which you're looking, then look no further. This is my all-time favorite restaurant. There is really something special about Chef Maya.
