Hyped local spot on quieter section of Pearl. Place was packed. While the food and service was good...it was not outstanding. Overpriced in my opinion.

My wife and I have not been here in quite a while, shame on us! We enjoyed an outstanding meal from cocktails through dinner but not dessert! Mateo has interesting and inventive coctails and an outstanding wine list. We started with paté which was delicious...More
I've been to Mateo now three times, twice in the past two weeks. Twice for dinner and once for brunch. For dinner last night, I had the steak frites, which was good,, but not outstanding. I was also disappointed in the fact that almost everything...More
I am by no means a professional food critic. What I am is gentleman that eats dinner out at least 6 times per week. On a recent visit to Boulder I had the opportunity to dine at Mateo's French restaurant on June 14th. To say...More
I went to Mateo on two separate occasions while in Boulder. The first was for a late night drink and to share a charcuterie and cheese board. Great experience. The restaurant only had 4 other groups in it, so our waiter was super attentive without...More
Be prepared to wait a LONG time, with constant apologies from front-end staff, to get your meal. I would not say the wait was worth it, but the food is very good. If they could better organize their back operation, things would certainly improve. If...More
Being french, a friend of mine invited to that place. Nice restaurant, great food, awesome wine list Arancini, mussels are great Cassoulet fully reinvented and I like it very much - coming from the cassoulet country, it is a compliment.
Read the other reviews: Mateo can be your best friend hidden gem, or it can disappoint just when you're looking for a solid meal. Where they're good, they're great: bistro foods like the chicken, mussels, frites, hamburgers (best in Boulder), and some nice simple salads...More
Lovely food and ambiance. The lobster ravioli is exceptional if it is on the menu. Terrific desserts (profiteroles oh my!) and professional staff. One of the better restaurant's in Boulder. Not expensive for the quality. They do a good brunch at the week-ends
